Anime and Manga Differences[]
- The circumstances of the fight against Red/Black King are changed:
- In the manga, Shinjiro is alerted of Red and is dispatched, having the Ultraman suit sent to him in a nearby car. Meanwhile in the anime, Black King causing trouble nearby prompts Shinjiro to take action.
- The manga has this situation set up in part by both the SSSP, Red, and Jack as a means to force Shinjiro to develop himself and his powers. This adaptation has Black King be set up only by Jack and once the SSSP learned of Black King's attack, they would deploy Moroboshi should Shinjiro fail to exterminate him.
- Red surrenders after Shinjiro learns to fly, while Black King is decapitated.
- Igaru had nothing to do with Black King's attack. He is later beaten up by his "friends" seemingly for the fun of it. In the manga, it was Igaru that had ordered Red to kill Ultraman (Shinjiro), and was beaten up by his friends because Red ended the fight and Shinjiro was now able to fly.
- The scene with Shinjiro talking to Rena under the bridge is original to the anime adaptation. This replaces a scene in the manga where Shinjiro flies and ponders about his powers.
- The conversation between Endo and Kurata in the police station replaces one in the manga where Bemular speaks to Endo to tell him that Rena is in danger.
- In the manga, after finding the mastermind behind the recent murders, Edo treats it as an opportunity to test SHinjiro further. This detail is cut out of the anime adaptation.
- Adad is not shown killing anyone. He simply monologues about his plan before appearing on stage.
- Shinjiro and Moroboshi go into the concert hall unarmed while waiting for their target. In the manga, they wait on the roof, already wearing their Ultraman suits, before barging in when Adad appears.
