Hエイチ・Aエー・Nエヌ・Eイー・2ツー (Eichi Ē Enu Ī Tsū), later nicknamed Hanejiro (ハネジロー, Hanejirō), is an AI unit developed by the TPU that eventually found himself in the service of GUTS-Select. He pilots the unmanned GUTS Hawk in combat, and communicates to the other members from within the Nursedessei's command room.[1][2] Although an AI, HANE2's terminal is portrayed as a small yellowish mecha that is immobile but is able to move into different duplicate of bodies if needed.

Conception

HANE2 is themed after Hanejiro from Ultraman Dyna in terms of design and role as the mascot of their respective defense teams. [4]

History

Ultraman Decker

Along with the GUTS Hawk, HANE2 was originally designed for space development purposes. However, the attack of the Spheres had forced the TPU to repurpose their equipment into the recently-reformed GUTS-Select's arsenal. HANE2 now serves as the GUTS Hawk's pilot in battle, and assists the other members of GUTS-Select as a companion AI within the Nursedessei by providing training simulations.

HANE2 is aware of Kanata Asumi's identity as Ultraman Decker, but made an agreement with him to keep it a secret, going as far as to even help out in covering for Kanata's disappearances. Move Out, GUTS-Select! His biggest greenlight is the role of piloting Terraphaser, which he reluctantly did to replace the original inexperienced AI that was fried from Raibasser's lightning bolts. HANE2 displays the robot's armaments and efficiency in against the bird monster and falls short of delivering the finishing blow as he became overheated by the machine's complex machinery. To solve this, Yuichiro Asakage installs Terraphaser's programming into HANE2's systems, allowing him to adapt to the robot's systems and even bypassing several restrictions to use the TR Mega Buster, successfully obliterating Sphere-Neomegas while Decker provides cover from their opponent's attack. The feedback data from HANE2's piloting of Terraphaser is copied and given to Asakage by Murahoshi, including a protected file that contains all of HANE2's secret interactions with Kanata in regards to the latter's relation to the Ultra. This file is then discovered by Asakage, catching him by surprise. Neomegas Strikes Back

Stats[3]
  • Height: 30 cm
  • Weight: 2 kg
  • Origin: TPU headquarters
  • Weaknesses:
    • While HANE2 can pilot two different aircrafts at the same time (his terminal in the GUTS Hawk while remote controlling GUTS Falcon), doing so reduces his flight efficiency.
    • Since HANE2 is represented in an immobile terminal, he is incapable of moving around and relies an outside help to do so. Best exampled during the Hinabasser attack, HANE2 is forced to be tossed around like a hot potato to ensure he is delivered to Terraphaser without getting hurt.
    • HANE2's terminal is vulnerable to overheating, as when it happens, he becomes unable to operate any systems he hooked up to properly.
Powers and Weapons
  • Terminal Surfing: HANE2 can switch from the default terminal he is in to the other terminal. This is done so as to pilot the GUTS Hawk without the need of directly carrying him to the cockpit.
  • Piloting: As is HANE2's purpose of creation, he is skilled in the act of piloting unmanned fighters, for as long as he has direct connection to it. Even when piloting Terraphaser, HANE2 manages to adapt to the robot's systems to fight and last for a period of time until he overheats his own terminal.
  • Adaptability: Being an AI, HANE2 is able to adapt to new systems and programming at a faster rate. He can also quickly calculate probable scenarios during combat to guide himself or Ultraman Decker from harm's way or to devise another battle tactic against their opponents.
  • Remote Controlling: In GUTS Hawk, HANE2 can remote control the GUTS Falcon while flying his own, giving the allusion of Kanata still operating the latter aircraft while he is actually fighting as Ultraman Decker.
  • Voice Mimicry: HANE2 can alter his vocal chord to replicate other people's voice. Unfortunately he is incapable of directly copying the subject's personality and speech patterns.

Trivia

  • HANE2 could be based off of V.I.N.CENT from the 1979 film, The Black Hole and Tetra from the 2000 film, Juvenile. They share a very similar shape, design and features. HANE2 can also pull his head back into his body just like VIN.CENT.
    • His role as an AI support is also based on PAL from Ultraman Gaia, given that both AI are able to operate vessels and other technologies that they hooked up to, as well as covering up for an Ultra Host's disappearances by steering their fighters during combat.
  • During NEW GENERATION THE LIVE: Stars STAGE 1, HANE2 parodies Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, referencing his voice actor being Saizou/Ninja Blue from the series. Terraphaser even performs a technique similar to Ninja Blue's signature move. While all this is happening, Decker decided to sit in the audience and watch.
