Guilebaku [1][2][3] is a Kaiju who first appeared in the twenty-fourth episode of Ultraman Arc. One of Ze Su's servants, Guilebaku was sent to Earth alongside Sweed as part of Ze Su's plan to get rid of Arc once and for all.

Conception[]
Etymology[]
Guilebaku is named after the Baku, a supernatural creature from Japanese mythology which bears a resemblance to a tapir, and is said to feed on nightmares.
Design[]
Guilebaku was designed by Tomo Hyakutake,[4] who previously designed all of the Gelos' forms.
According to Hyakutake's explanation, the design inspiration for Guilebaku comes from the Baku due to its association with the "dream-eating" legend, and that dreams typically occur at night. This connection led to the concept of the full moon. Guilebaku represents the moon, in contrast to Arc, which represents the sun, while Sweed symbolizes the crescent moon. This is purely a design concept and does not reflect the canon of the series.[5]
The design of Guilebaku was not based on the elements of monsters from earlier series but was instead derived from an interpretation and understanding of the monster suit and designs in Arc. Since the inspiration was drawn from the full moon, the surface of the design features circular textures and cracks resembling lunar craters. It also referenced the texture of mammalian skin, such as that of rhinos, though the initial design was more akin to elephant skin. To avoid monotony, the design gradually evolved to resemble the scales of a reptile. The eye design was intended to represent the effect of Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, but the initial design was too frightening. After several discussions with director Takanori Tsujimoto, adjustments were made.[5]
Guilebaku has four arms. In addition to the two arms holding transparent spheres, the two outward-extending, downward-sloping appendages are also arms. Among these extended parts, the large structures adjacent to the face are designed to function as "wings," symbolizing Guilebaku's ability to fly. The red-colored areas represent musculature—an intentional design element meant to enhance Guilebaku's visual when it stretches its arms or launches attacks.[5]
The transparent spheres held in Guilebaku's hands are also found clustered around its chest. According Hyakutake, each of these spheres symbolizes an individual's "hope." Similar spheres extending from its back carry the same symbolic meaning. When viewed from the side, Guilebaku's posture is inspired by the pose of someone holding a cat, which is reflected in its raised shoulder design. The overall costume design was refined in collaboration with Kaimai production.[5]
History[]
Ultraman Arc[]
Having been sent to Earth alongside Sweed as part of Ze Su's final plan to kill Arc and Yuma Hize by poisoning them with pollutants sent through the Ze Su Gate, Guilebaku's first objective was to attempt to convince Yuma that everything he had experienced for the past 16 years was a dream, though this failed when Shu Ishido managed to successfully locate him, awakening Yuma from his unconsciousness.
Guilebaku later appeared on Earth by emerging from the same spatial disturbance previously used by Trigelos, and immediately began attacking the city, making a direct course for SKIP's headquarters in an effort to destroy them. Yuma transformed into Arc to protect his friends, but the poisoning had rendered Arc critically weak, causing his Color Timer to immediately begin blinking, and his Galaxy Armor malfunctioned, causing him to be injured by his own Arc Feathers. Guilebaku then injured Arc further by using its Circle Cutters to repeatedly strike him. In desperation, Arc tried to fire his Arc Finalize, but Guilebaku used its dream-inducing beams to make Arc fall unconscious. The Descending Dream
With Arc unconscious, Guilebaku subjected Yuma to dreams where his parents were still alive in order to convince him to break his bond with Arc in order to reactivate the Ze Su Gate. Fortunately, Yuma was able to overcome the dream's narrative and stayed defiant, forcing Guilebaku to appear in his dreams to fight Yuma as he turned into Arc. However, Guilbaku began to manipulate Yuma's dreamscape, causing buildings to move and surround Arc. This allowed Guilebaku to attack Arc with its arms. Outside the dreamscape, Shu and YouPi managed to sneak underneath the barrier. Shu used a device made by SKIP to fire an energy beam filled with Arc's Onyxium Particles at Guilebaku's Guileba Crystal, damaging it and causing the Dome Barrier it had made to disappear, allowing the GDF to launch an attack on it, causing damage to both in the real world and in the dream world, allowing Arc to get free. Arc then summoned the Galaxy Armor again, but this time managed to fight through the poison and create the Miracle Arc Cube, allowing him to fire his new Galaxer Over-the-Top attack on Guilebaku, destroying it in the dream world, causing it to explode in the real world. Guilebaku's defeat allowed Arc to regain consciousness and restore his Color Timer. Time to Run, Yuma!

- Weight: 39,000 t[1][2]
- Origin: Rution's galaxy → Hoshimoto City
- Weakness: If Guilebaku experiences any sort of pain in the real world, the one in the dream world will experience the same sensation and vice versa.
- Powers and Weapons
- Guileba Crystal [1]: A crystalline external organ located on Guilebaku's chest.
- Guilebaku Dome Barrier [2]: By emitting high-frequency electromagnetic waves from the Guileba Crystal, Guilebaku can surround itself in a dome-like barrier that can be enlarged. Anything inside the barrier is trapped, while its outer edge blocks incoming attacks and destroys objects caught in Guilebaku's path when it moves with the barrier active.
- Tentacle Arms: Guilebaku's larger set of arms can extend to reveal tentacle-like arms, which it uses to batter its enemies.
- Guilebaku Circle Cutter [2]: When its arms are extended, Guilebaku can throw several light rings at its targets.
- Dream-Illusion Beams [6]: By spreading out its wing-like ears and unleashing several red tentacles from them, Guilebaku can emit waves of light particles that are able to render its victims unconcious and put them in a dream sequence.
- Dream Manipulation: Guilebaku can manipulate the dreams of its victims, being able to conjure all manners of illusions at its will; among these include creating illusions of past kaiju that Arc fought or people, like a seven-year old Yuma Hize and his parents, or even disguising Sweed as Ultraman Arc and Akari Inui on two occasions. The victim's dreamscape can also be shaped to Guilebaku's liking by changing its surroundings or using them against opponents; the latter evident when Guilebaku made buildings surround Arc to immobilize the Ultra.
