"Shu Ishido. I will turn you into a warrior. An evil warrior empowered by the darkness of your own heart! *laughs*"

Alien Repo to Shu Ishido.

Guil Arc (ギルアーク, Giru Āku) is a jet-black clone of Ultraman Arc, who appears in Ultraman Arc The Movie: The Clash of Light and Evil.[2][3] It was created by Alien Repo as part of its plan to invade Earth, using Shu Ishido as both his host and the source of said Ultra's existence stemming from his deep-rooted trauma from losing his colleague.[4]

Subtitle: Dark Warrior (闇戦士, Yami Senshi)[3]

Conception[]

Etymology[]

The Guil in Guil Arc's name comes from "Guilty". Although unconfirmed, it also coincides with giru (ぎる), the Okinawan dialect for "stealing", hence being the opposite of Ultraman Arc.

History[]

Pre-Ultraman Arc[]

Guilty

Guilty[5]

At some point prior to joining SKIP, Shu Ishido lost his colleague Jin Kiuchi during their confrontation against Alien Repo. The resulting trauma caused him to develop his disdain towards aliens, and in his spare time he created a horrifying sculpture that resembled a human face screaming with tears of blood as his coping mechanism.[1] This sculpture would be known as Guilty (ギルティ, Giruti) by Alien Repo, who was able to acquire it at some point of time. Ultraman Arc The Movie: The Clash of Light and Evil[]

Alien Repo would later mail the Guilty sculpture to SKIP's office and put the rest of the SKIP members to sleep using a special gas. Confronting Shu once more for the first time in a long time, Repo used his deep-rooted trauma of losing Jin and its own dark imagination powers to transform Guilty into the Guil Arc Cube. It then stole the Arc Ariser from Yuma and transformed Shu into Guil Arc against his will.

While Zerogelos stole the energy from the Angie 1 generator, Guil Arc appeared at the same time and then fought against Ultraman Arc, who could show up thanks to a mysterious stranger granting Yuma a replacement Arc Ariser. Despite being equal in fighting prowess, Yuma was hesitant in injuring Shu but eventually succeeded in helping his friend to regain his senses when one of Arc's tears fell onto Guil Arc's fist. As Alien Repo fused with Zerogelos to become Repodios, Shu used Guil Arc's form to assist Yuma/Arc in the fight, to the point of equipping himself with the Galaxy Armor. The two armored Ultras use their bladed weapons to slice the alien-monster fusion in the process. Guil Arc then helped his template in restoring the Future Science Research Institute to its original location before disappearing.

Once untransformed, Shu Ishido lost most of his memory of becoming Guil Arc, dismissing it as a dream with his right arm injured. The Guil Arc Cube disappeared alongside its namesake Ultra, as Yuma reclaimed his Arc Ariser and returned the other device to the stranger who had helped him, who was himself from the future. Profile[]

Stats[]

  • Height: 48 m
  • Weight: 32,000 t
  • Home World: Hoshimoto City

Body Features[]

  • Color Timer: Guil Arc has a diamond-shaped Color Timer. It shines with red light and blinks when he is low on energy.
  • Arc Stone: Being a copy of Ultraman Arc, Guil Arc has a copy of the Arc Stone that his template has on his forehead, which flashes dark red when Guil Arc uses the darker version of the Power of Imagination.

Transformation[]

Because Guil Arc himself is a brainwashed Shu, the transformation is initiated by Alien Repo using their dark imagination powers. The Arc Ariser and Guil Arc Cube are telekinetically manipulated, inserting the Cube first followed by twisting the Ariser.

Forms[]

Guil Arc

Being a clone of Ultraman Arc, Guil Arc displays the same set of powers as his template, but performs them in mirrored positions.

Abilities
  • Trauma Empowerment: According to Alien Repo, Guil Arc and his namesake Arc Cube are empowered by Shu's own deep-rooted trauma of losing Jin Kiuchi, which were symbiotically linked with the latter's mentality. This very fear and sorrow from losing his friend is what allows Guil Arc to maintain his existence and supply power to his attacks.
Techniques
Special
  • Guil Arc Finalize (ギルアークファイナライズ, Giru Āku Fainaraizu)[3]: Gathering energy in both arms, Guil Arc forms a cross in a "+" sign formation and unleashes an Ultra Beam.
  • Guil Arc Exa Slash (ギルアークエクサスラッシュ, Giru Āku Ekusa Surasshu)[3]: Guil Arc converts the light energy from his beam into a round cutter that he then throws at targets. It can even be duplicated several times upon being thrown.
  • Guil Arc Tera Shot (ギルアークテラショット, Giru Āku Tera Shotto)[3]: Light bullets that can be fired in rapid succession.
Other
  • Guil Arc Giga Barrier (ギルアークギガバリヤー, Giru Āku Giga Bariyā)[3]: A wall of light that Guil Arc can deploy defensively.

Galaxy Armor
Guil Arc Galaxy Armor

Guil Arc Galaxy Armor

Galaxy Armor (ギャラクシーアーマー, Gyarakushī Āmā) is Guil Arc's galaxy-based form that manifests from the Galaxy Object (ギャラクシーオブジェクト, Gyarakushī Obujekuto) armament.[6] It was normally used by Arc as his strongest form, but the Cube was ejected from him during the fight with Repodios, as Guil Arc instead grabs it and dons the armor while Arc resorts to use both Solis Armor and Arc Eye Sword.

Weapons
  • Arc Feather (アークフェザー, Āku Fezā): Four flying blades that circle the Galaxy Armor, which are able to distort space and teleport to attack enemies from all directions.
    • Arc Feather Circle (アークフェザーサークル, Āku Fezā Sākuru): A wormhole created from two/four Arc Feathers, which Guil Arc can use to transport himself across distances instantaneously.
    • Arc Feather Jet (name unknown): The four Arc Feathers attach onto Guil Arc's back to form a pair of jet thrusters.
  • Arc Galaxer (アークギャラクサー, Āku Gyarakusā)[7]: A bladed weapon formed from the combination of the four Arc Feathers.
    • Galaxer Finalize (ギャラクサーファイナライズ, Gyarakusā Fainaraizu): Guil Arc unleashes a powerful Ultra Beam from the Arc Galaxer. Unlike his template, this version of the technique doesn't require inserting any Armor Cubes into the Arc Galaxer.
    • Galaxer Slicer (ギャラクサースライサー, Gyarakusā Suraisā): A basic slicing attack imbued with energy.

Miscellaneous[]

Trivia[]

  • During the press conference for the movie, Alien Repo's voice actress, Miki Mizuno, demonstrated the use of Guil Arc Cube to the Arc Ariser prop, causing Guil Arc to appear and join the cast members on-stage. At that time, the identity behind Guil Arc's human host remain a secret, hence Mizuno's demonstration is also a foreshadowing that her character does have an involvement with the dark Ultra's creation, even more so with the reveal that his human host did not directly use the device to transform.
  • The box which Guilty was mailed with had the name of Jin Kiuchi, serving as a five-second foreshadowing to the trigger for Guil Arc's birth.
  • The circumstances behind Guil Arc's creation serves as an antithesis to his template; whereas Arc was formed from Rution fusing with Yuma into the image of his dream hero from childhood, Guil Arc is the distorted image of his template with slight inspiration from Guilty's image.
