History[]

Ultraman Ace[]

Ryu is the captain of the TAC Far East branch. He has a kind yet strict personality. He remains calm during tasks and tries to see things from a scientific point of view. Therefore, his subordinates trust him. If he encounters a dangerous mission, he will act personally.

However, when his subordinates make mistakes, he takes a severe attitude and disciplines or suspends the team members. In any difficult situation, however, he encourages his juniors and those involved in the incident. Additionally, when the Wehrmacht officer made a mistake, he stepped forward to correct it.

Trivia[]

  • Goro's uniform was originally grey like the rest of the members, but then it was changed to black for the captain role.
  • Tetsuro Sagawa joined Ultraman Ace at the invitation of TBS producer Yoji Hashimoto.
    • At the time, Sagawa was busy filming Ōedo Sōsamō and was hesitant to take on another project. However, Hashimoto persuaded him, saying that the children watching the show would one day grow up and remember the character Sagawa played. Hashimoto also noted that Sagawa’s age made him a perfect fit for Captain Ryu, which led Sagawa to accept the offer.[3]
    • During filming, Sagawa encouraged the cast and crew to maintain professional standards, emphasizing that even though the show was for children, they should never lower them. This attitude earned him the respect of the production team.
    • After Ace ended, Sagawa continued to contribute to the franchise by serving as the narrator of Ultraman Taro and Ultraman Leo.
