Goichi Sakamoto (坂本 剛一, Sakamoto Gōichi) is one of the main characters from Ultra Q: Dark Fantasy. He is a journalist for Global Magazine's subdivision, MIND Magazine.

Personality[]

Goichi has a carefree personality, but is very determined and has a strong sense of justice when it comes to his motivations. As a journalist, he often has quick-witted ideas that even impress his superiors. Additionally, he is also a computer expert.

During his university years, he was a member of Professor Kakunoshin Watarai's research group, and they have remained in contact ever since.

History[]

Ultra Q: Dark Fantasy[]

In the series, Goichi is a journalist for the magazine "MIND" under the Global Magazine company. He extensively reports on unprecedented supernatural phenomena as his subject matter. Since he joined, the magazine's sales have skyrocketed. When he delves into investigating certain mysterious events, he teams up with Ryo Kusunoki under the alias "Watarai's assistant". However, during regular times, he often sits at the desk by the office window, showcasing his adept magic tricks to female colleagues to pass the time.

Nevertheless, he is not lazy in his journalistic endeavors and maintains a serious attitude during interviews. Besides exploring supernatural phenomena, he occasionally gathers reports, including celebrity scandals. Sometimes, even when not directly involved in events, he provides accurate advice to Ryo.

In an investigation, Goichi accepted a commission from the daughter of Tatsuki to investigate her father's sudden disappearance. Starting from a letter left by Tatsuki, Goichi eventually found an underground space called "Paradise", where many hermits gathered. Later, with the help of a courier named ""Paradise" courier," he escaped from "Paradise." However, the courier deleted the photographs that Goichi took of "Paradise" with his camera, attempting to destroy the evidence.Bound For Paradise

During an investigation into a body-swapping incident, he encountered a Mirror World Duplicate named Anoru. This entity had brought the real Anoru into the mirror and killed her, taking on her identity. Like other mirror duplicates, Anoru lacked the ability to distinguish between good and evil and displayed a cold personality. Goichi helped Anoru establish emotions during their interaction. As they spent more time together, Anoru gradually developed feelings for Goichi and realized he was an important person in her life.

However, in an effort to correct the error, the mirror guardian Varno attempted to invade the real world. In order to stop Varno's invasion, Anoru decided to sacrifice herself. Before leaving, she expressed gratitude to Goichi and jumped into the mirror to disappear with Varno.
