Giganter (ジャイガンター, Jaigantā) is the designation given by the Diaclone Team to a gigantic monster in Diaclone VS. Gridman, serving as the main antagonist.

Subtitle: Dimensional Giant Monster (次元巨獣, Jigen Kyojū)

Conception[]

Giganter is based on the Waruder Army's mecha Warudaros Gigantor (ワルダロス・ギガンター, Warudarosu Gigantā) in the 2016 installment of Diaclone toyline. According to Motoki Takaya, Giganter's appearance resemble the Warudaros Gigantor's Mega-Zilla Mode.[1]

Etymology[]

In the Katakana, Giganter (ジャイガンター, Jaigantā) is a play on the aforementioned Warudaros name Gigantor (ガンター, Gigantā), simply by adding the transliteration of the English word Gigantic (ジャイガンティック, Jaigantikku).

History[]

Diaclone VS. Gridman[]

After the Waruder Army's defeat, they were driven off from Planet Earth. At that time, Operation: Ragnarok (オペレーション ラグナロク, Operēshon Ragunaroku) took place in their namesake home planet due to the gravitational collapse from the out of control Freezon Energy (フリーゾンエネルギー, Furīzon Enerugī). Although this event supposedly lead to the planet's destruction by a black hole, the Super Wave Freezon Quantum (超波動フリーゾン量子, Chō Hadō Furīzon Ryōshi) and residual thoughts of Alien Waruder transformed their planet into a sentient monster with the goal of devouring Freezon Energy on Earth.

As Giganter performed various dimensional warp, it caught the attention of Hyper Agent Gridman, having been dispatched to stop the monster but was no match for its strength, leading to his encounter with Hikari Kaizaki once being thrown out of the dimensional rift.

Diaclone VS Gridman Illust act04-1

Giganter fighting against Battles Gridman.

Giganter arrived on Earth and begins absorbing Freezon Energy to grow bigger. The monster managed to resist the Diaclone Team's counterattack and continues laying waste to Japan. By the time Gridman and Hikari contacted the Landmaster, Giganter set its sight to devour the biggest Freezon mine at Mt. Fuji. If the monster devour the Freezon supply, it will grow to the size of celestial bodies and risking Planet Earth. Once being overpowered by Gridman, Giganter retaliated by splitting into two separate monsters; Beast God Giganter and Giganter Beta. While Beast God made its way to the Freezon mine, Beta held Battles Gridman at bay until it was killed by the Diaclone reinforcements. The remaining monster started to grow from consuming the Freezon Energy, but the timely arrival of Thunder Crash Caliber allowed Battles Gridman to put an end to Giganter. Before departing, Gridman undo the collateral damages from Giganter's rampage.

Trivia[]

  • Assuming that Giganter is a based on Gigantor, then Giganter Beta is based on Saber Head part of the aforementioned mecha.

Data[]

Giganter
Stats
  • Height: 100 meters
  • Origin: Planet Waruder (ワルダー星, Warudā Sei) (True form)
  • Weakness: Giganter's black hole-like physiology is the reason why said monster is invulnerable to most attacks. A special green quartz from Europa is needed to counter the monster's regenerative properties.
Powers and Weapons
  • Dimensional Warp: Giganter is capable of traversing between dimensions, doing so to get to the Planet Earth where the Waruder Army had fought prior to their defeat. According to Hikari, Giganter's method is similar to the Waruder Army's Time Hole (タイム・ホール, Taimu Hōru) during their invasion on Earth.
    • Dimensional Gate Manipulation: By utilizing a smaller portion of this power, Giganter use it to redirect the Freezone Energy pipeline and feeding the Freezon Energy to itself.
  • Regeneration: Through the Freezon Quantum that make up its body, Giganter can vibrate itself to regenerate damaged parts.
  • Dimensional Parasite Monsters (次元寄生獣, Jigen Kisei-jū): Not so much of an ability, smaller parasites latched onto Giganter's body during its dimensional warp. Upon arrival on Earth, the parasites fought the Diaclone Team while Giganter was busy draining Freezon Energy in various places.
  • Dimensional Shield (次元シールド, Jigen Shīrudo): Giganter is capable of erecting barriers to shield itself from attacks. The only counteract to this ability is Gridman's own power.
  • Freezon Energy Consumption: As it was driven by the will of Planet Waruder's inhabitants, Giganter consumes Freezon Energy to grow stronger and bigger.
    • Tendrils: Giganter can summon tendrils to drain Freezon Energy from the underground.
    • Growth: In addition to its strength, if Giganter consumes a massive quantity of Freezon Energy, it can grow to the size of celestial bodies.
    • Beast God Mode (獣神モード, Jūshin Mōdo): Giganter can split into two different monsters through the consumed Freezon Energy. The main body forms Beast God Giganter while the severed tail becomes Giganter Beta.
  • Dimensional Crushing Wave (次元粉砕ウェーブ, Jigen Funsai Wēbu): A special energy wave capable of shutting down Diaclone mechas.
  • Black Hole Physiology: As the original Planet Waruder that was on the verge of turning into a black hole, Giganter's body emulated black hole-like traits.
    • Planetary Condensation: As hypothesized by Landmaster, should Giganter grows to the size of solar system, the monster's natural black hole physiology would condense Earth to atomic levels and eventually ceasing to exist altogether.
  • Tail: Giganter's tail, which has a drill-like end and can be used to bash opponents.

Beast God Mode

Beast God Giganter

The Beast God Giganter (獣神ジャイガンター, Jūshin Jaigantā) is Giganter's form when the main body assumes Beast God Mode (獣神モード, Jūshin Mōdo) by standing upright and severing its own tail into a separate monster.

Stats
  • Height: 100 meters
  • Weakness: Giganter's black hole-like physiology is the reason why said monster is invulnerable to most attacks. A special green quartz from Europa is needed to counter the monster's regenerative properties.
Powers and Weapons
  • Dimensional Shield (次元シールド, Jigen Shīrudo): Beast God Giganter is capable of erecting barriers to shield itself from attacks. The only counteract to this ability is Gridman's own power.
  • Dimensional Fracturing Beam (次元破断光線, Jigen Hadan Kōsen)
  • Dimensional Blasting Bullets (次元爆砕弾, Jigen Bakusai-dan)
  • Freezon Energy Consumption: As it was driven by the will of Planet Waruder's inhabitants, Beast God Giganter consumes Freezon Energy to grow stronger and bigger.
    • Growth: In addition to its strength, if Beast God Giganter consumes a massive quantity of Freezon Energy, it can grow to the size of solar system.
    • Enhanced Exoskeleton: After consuming a massive quantity of Freezon Energy, Giganter's exoskeleton develops immunity to Battles Gridman's attacks.
    • Mutation: As it begins growing to massive proportions, Beast God Giganter grows three additional heads and extra limbs, turning into an unrecognizable monster from its original form.
  • Black Hole Physiology: As the original Planet Waruder that was on the verge of turning into a black hole, Beast God Giganter's body emulated black hole-like traits.
    • Planetary Condensation: As hypothesized by Landmaster, should Beast God Giganter grows to the size of solar system, the monster's natural black hole physiology would condense Earth to atomic levels and eventually ceasing to exist altogether.
  • Dimensional Wave Cannons (次元波動砲, Jigen Hadō Hō):

Giganter Beta

When assuming Beast God Mode, Giganter's tail splits into its own monster, Giganter Beta (ジャイガンターβ, Jaigantā Bēta).

Powers and Weapons
  • Dimensional Shield (次元シールド, Jigen Shīrudo): Giganter Beta is capable of erecting barriers to shield itself from attacks. The only counteract to this ability is Gridman's own power.
