Trivia[]
- Genki Kagura is the first Ultra host to merge with an Ultra outside of Earth's orbit.
- Genki is the first Ultra host/form to shout his Ultra's full name (in this case Ultraman Neos) while others just shout the Ultra's name instead.
- Genki was portrayed by Jun Takatsuki, who later played Kamen Rider Tiger/Satoru Tojo in Kamen Rider Ryuki.
- According to a 2021 interview with Jun Takatsuki, he attended the audition for Ultraman Neos with a hangover after a celebration party for a movie called NINE9 in which he had appeared. When he entered the audition room, Takatsuki was handed a script and asked to perform a scene with Taketora Morita. However, due to his hangover, he struggled to focus on the script. As a result, he had to rely on memorizing the story's outline and improvising the performance. The audition was divided into several small groups, so Takatsuki only encountered a few other candidates.[1]
- During the second audition, he wore the uniform and helmet of the UG from Heisei Ultraseven and stood alongside Shigeki Kagemaru for a height and build comparison. The judges assessed their balance, and ultimately, Tsuburaya Productions' producer, Masahiro Tsuburaya, confirmed Takatsuki's role. In preparation, Takatsuki observed other series like Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Gaia.[1]
- After receiving the official casting notice, Takatsuki participated in two to three days of action training. These sessions took place at Tsuburaya Productions' headquarters in Shigaya-Okura and involved exercises such as jumping from heights, overcoming obstacles, and adopting combat stances, with a primary focus on firearm maneuvers. There was also some wrestling and martial arts training, all of which were taught by Hiroyuki Okano, the suit actor for Ultraman Neos.[2]
- In the opening scene where a space station is struck by a meteor, although the shooting followed the script, director Masaki Harada added many details. This filming experience also marked Takatsuki's first time working with wire action and green screen effects.[2]
