Trivia[]

Spring Sonata

The preparation draft of "Spring Sonata"

  • AIn both the draft and the final version, the original title of this episode was Spring Sonata (春のソナタ, Haru no Sonata). However, following the change of the title to "Dream" in episode 40, it was decided to maintain consistency by changing the title to a single word theme.
  • According to Akio Jissoji, the initial concept for the battle scenes in this episode was to present them in the form of a "stage performance." When depicting Ultraman Tiga's entrance, the original idea was to have him suspended in mid-air, much like Ichikawa Ennosuke in Kabuki theater, with even the steel wires holding him visible. As the battle progressed, the camera would abruptly switch to an old theater where a performance was underway on stage, with the members of GUTS seated in the audience watching the fight.
  • Filming for this episode began in late March and early April of 1997. However, due to adverse weather conditions in Japan, most of the outdoor filming had to be moved indoors, resulting in the current presentation of the scenes. Only a few outdoor shots were filmed at Jokey-ji Temple in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture.[2]
  • The background music for this episode includes a portion of Giacomo Puccini's opera "Madame Butterfly", specifically the "Duetto dei fiori".
