Conception

Etymology

Firdran's name is a portmanteau of the words Fire and Dragon. In-universe, Gento Hiruma came up with the abbreviation on a whim after a few other possible names.

Design

Firdran was designed by Masayuki Gotoh and Bandai. The Firdran Armor was designed first, before its image was adapted to create the kaiju.

History

Ultraman Blazar

At a secret test facility in the Space Systems Research Center, the flame-laden kaiju Firdran crossed space-time in response to its master's grave peril at the hands of Brood Gebalga. Once Emi Aobe and her father, Tatsuki Aobe, opened the gates to the facility, Firdran soared into the sky, reducing any Irugos that came its way to ashes. After freeing its master from danger, the kaiju companion turned into the Firdran Stone and granted Blazar the power of the Firdran Armor and the Tilsofird Lancer, which helped him defeat Brood Gebalga and the Irugo infestation.^{Light and Flame}

• Incineration: As its entire body is coated in flames, Firdran was shown to be capable of incinerating numerous Irugos in an instant.
