Trivia[]
- In this episode, Hiroshi Nagano, who played the protagonist Daigo Madoka in Ultraman Tiga, returns to the series as a guest character. Alongside him, Takami Yoshimoto and Yoichi Furuya—who, like Nagano, is also from Johnny’s Entertainment—make guest appearances, reprising their roles from Ultraman Tiga. Aya Sugimoto, who appeared in the film Ultraman Tiga & Ultraman Dyna: Warriors of the Star of Light, also returns as a guest character.[1]
- This is the first time an Ultra Host from a prior series interacted with an Ultra Host of the current series in Heisei era.
- The scene where Daigo rescues an unconscious Asuka in Mars’s desert was actually filmed on Izu Oshima[2], with Daigo’s role in this scene performed by a stand-in actor.
- This episode’s core revolves around Asuka drawing inspiration from Daigo, the hero of Ultraman Tiga, about the human way of being, leading him to reflect on the human essence of his own father, Kazuma. This perspective is said to be inspired by a famous quote from British author Arthur C. Clarke.
- The storyline of this episode originally stemmed from a prototype for episodes 25 and 26, which had only a basic title at the time. Since it leads into the series finale, the story was slightly expanded from this original concept.
- The episode’s focus on the relationship between Asuka and Ryo involved a subtle revelation of Asuka's identity. Writer Keiichi Hasegawa found himself undecided between positioning the female lead as either Ryo or Mai. However, after consulting with the episode's director, Kazuya Konaka, they decided to emphasize the deep spiritual bond between Asuka and Ryo. While the two are not romantically involved, they share a profound connection that has existed since they first met.
- In this episode, Kohda’s line, “I’ll defeat it myself,” echoes his statement in episode 34, "The Time of Resolution," but this time he is determined to carry out the action himself.
- In the televised version, the ending theme was replaced with the original first ending theme, "Kimi Dake o Mamoritai".
- This episode was later featured in Ultraman Retsuden episode 37 "Threat of Sphere! Disappearance of the Solar System!!"
