The TDF (Terrestrial Defense Force) is an international military organization formed to defend Earth from any invasion.

History

Ultraseven

To protect the Earth from any alien invasions or monsters, the human government established the TDF and set up the special unit UG as the main defense force.

In addition to the headquarters in Paris and the Far East base that governs the Asian region, TDF also has branches in international cities such as Washington, Moscow, London, Berlin, the Arctic, Sydney, and Cairo. They also have some scientific facilities, including the Antarctic Science Center, which is responsible for the research and development of new military technologies. In addition, TDF's technological strength is reflected in their space stations V1 to V3, which are located in Earth's orbit, as well as a lunar base.

The organization presumably formed into the Terrestrial Defense Agency by 1971 and headed MAT and subsequent organizations.

Heisei Ultraseven

The original base of the TDF destroyed

The Heisei Ultraseven series reveals an alternate timeline where the events that occurred in Ultraseven were the only age of monsters; in thirty years, TDF continues to expand, in addition to moving the Far East branch from Shizuoka to the Tokyo Bay area, it also added various military facilities and established front-line bases on multiple planets in space.

Five years after the "Friendship Plan," which used warp-navigated missiles to attack intelligent life forms residing on other planets, was terminated by higher-ups, some extraterrestrial beings attempting to invade Earth conspired and gradually took control of TDF's leadership, ultimately leading to the destruction of TDF departments.

The UG got ordered to be dissolved multiple times during this period, but in reality, it secretly continued to fight against extraterrestrial beings. Later, the remaining TDF departments rebuilt the organization once again.

Far East Base

Ultra Hawk No.1 launching from the Eastern Base

TDF's Far East Base is located several hundred meters away from Mount Fuji in Shizuoka, Japan. With around 3,000 members working at the base, it is strictly disguised, using the terrain and natural conditions to defend against alien invasions. In addition, the Eastern Base also has many facilities, including the UG's command room, medical center, member private rooms, fuel room, power room, and the most advanced equipment in the hangar. Furthermore, the base also has ultra-sensitive radar facilities, as well as a hotel for visitors, an underground single-track railway, and private secret passages. However, the equipment used by most organizational personnel is not a computer but a scroll-type device.

By the time of Heisei Ultraseven, the base was relocated to the great Tokyo Bay region. It was eventually destroyed by the UG after they found out TDF was overrun by alien infiltrators. ^Innocent

As for the World of the Land of Light, the base was repurposed into a spaceship launching base after the disbandment of the Ultra Guard. ^{Ultraman Mebius: Anderes Horizont}

Yamonaka

Yamonaka is the highest responsible person of the TDF Far East Base. He often faces invaders with a resolute attitude and trusts in the UG and the base members. He is also the key figure who made Dan Moroboshi join the UG.

Yamonaka is portrayed by Susumu Fujita.

Takenaka

Takenaka is the chief of staff officer responsible for supervising the UG, and he sometimes acts as a substitute commander when Captain Kiriyama is not present.

In Heisei Ultraseven, he was given a higher position as a director of the TDF.

Manabe

Manabe is the chief of staff officer responsible for supervising the UG. Like Takenaka, he also sometimes serves as the UG's alternate commander. Has the same role as Takenaka. He had encountered Alien Bell when an airplane crashed into Space X. He ordered the bombing of Pegassa City.

Manabe is portrayed by Yoichi Miyagawa.

Yanagawa

Yanagawa is a staff officer who only appeared in episode 1. He had vehemently opposed the suggestion to surrender to Alien Cool.

Yanagawa is portrayed by Akihiko Hirata.

Bogart

Bogart is a staff officer who only appeared in episode 1. He is an American staff member dispatched from Washington Base.

Bogart is portrayed by Franz Gruber.

Hirota

Hirota is a representative member of the general staff and a friend of Soga's age. He is turned into a hired killer by Alien Pega, and was shot dead by Soga at the end.

Hirota is portrayed by Ichigen Ohashi .

Sagami

Sagami is a deputy chief of the TDF Far East Base, and he held a meeting with the Earth Environmental Protection Committee.

Furuhashi

Years later, Shigeru Furuhashi was promoted from captain of the UG to staff officer and interacted with the junior members of the UG as its leader. He still holds sincere feelings of longing for Dan, who left.

Kaji

Years later, Kaji was promoted from a member of the UG to a staff officer. Due to the frustration of being unable to save his comrades, he insisted on defending the earth by force to carry out the "Friendship Plan" and advocated the disbandment of the UG.

Inagaki

Inagaki is a new staff officer of the TDF. In addition to covering up the Omega Files with the Security Department, he also erased the relevant records of Captain Kiriyama and Nonmalt.

In Ultraseven EVOLUTION, he became the top cadre of the TDF, but because he was deceived by General Suwa, he was finally killed by Alien Garut.

Saijou

Saijou is a new staff officer of the TDF. He knew the news that the enemy had infiltrated the organization, but was eventually manipulated by mind control. However, even after the organization was destroyed, he still led the remaining troops to fight against the aliens with the UG.

Saijou is portrayed by Masaki Nishimori .

Nanyuan is a character who appeared in the novel Ultraseven EVOLUTION. He led the remnants of the TDF with Saijou, but was manipulated by mind control.

Sasaki and Honda are employees from the Spiner Experimental Station. They were attacked by Dinosaur Tank and fell off the cliff. When they were about to be trampled to death by Dinosaur Tank, they were lucky enough to be saved by Ultraseven.

Kurata is the captain of the Station V3 Hawk unit, and the UG's Captain Kiriyama is a close friend in military school.

• Project Blue : Developed by Dr. Miyabe, this is an Earth defense shield project. The plan aims to prevent alien invasions by deploying a massive magnetic field barrier between Earth and the moon's orbit.
• Planet-Attack Missile R1 : Known as a superweapon, this interstellar ballistic missile has the power equivalent to 8,000 hydrogen bombs. Due to the release of radioactive materials upon explosion, it is considered a type of nuclear weapon. Similar to an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), it was expected to counter invading aliens. The development of the R2 model was halted after the launch of R1 led to the birth of Star Bem Gyeron.
• Super High-Performance Missile Kirie : This is a ground-to-air missile with the capability to destroy small asteroids. There is a base launch-type launcher fixed inside the mountainous walls of the Far East Base. Even in emergencies where electronic devices are unavailable, it can be launched manually.
• Warp Navigation Missile : Used for the Friendship Plan, this missile weapon has the power to destroy planets. In order to launch preemptive strikes against invaders, it travels through warped space, approaching the target planet before materializing.

• Station Hawk No.1 ：A dual-seat primary space fighter deployed at Space Stations V1, V2, and V3 for interception missions in space. The aircraft is equipped with fixed armaments such as laser guns and rocket launchers.
• Station Hawk No.2 ：A space fighter available in two configurations: one with two crew members and the other with one crew member. The aircraft's fixed armaments include laser guns and rocket launchers mounted on the nose, along with the capability to carry the lunar rover Space Tank and mechanical transport.

• Communication SST : A jet aircraft with variable wings capable of supersonic flight.
• Flying Diver : A twin-engine piston transport aircraft, also used for UG parachute training. The model is "TDF-TP".
• Space Bomber : A new type of bomber deployed at the Arctic base, which used missiles to destroy Pegassa City.
• Large Transport Aircraft : Responsible for transporting the bomb "Spiner", this is a large transport aircraft.
• Multipurpose Helicopter : A helicopter used for patrol and liaison tasks, among others. Armed with laser beams.

• Space Observation Vessel : A TDF spacecraft for space observation, with the 8th ship being destroyed by the attack of Star Bem Gyeron.
• Unmanned Probe Rocket "Sakura No.9" : An unmanned rocket for exploration jointly launched by the TDF and the Space Development Bureau.
• Long-Range Automated Navigation Space Rocket "Scorpion" : A manned interstellar light-speed rocket operated by an electronic computer's fully automatic control system, equipped with cryogenic sleep devices for crew use.
• Friendship No.3 : Deployed as part of the Friendship Plan at the Earth Defense Force's lunar base, this space probe transports unmanned landing-type exploration systems to the satellites of various planets to explore the existence and potential of intelligent life on each planet.
• Moon Base Escape Craft : Yellow spacecraft deployed by TDF Moon Base personnel for escaping from the base during emergencies, deployed in multiple units. One of the escape pods that successfully returned to Earth from the disaster is designated as the "MOON-09 model".

• Arthur : A small, versatile nuclear-powered submarine.
• S-Class Submarine : A nuclear-powered submarine used for diplomatic contacts and other purposes. It carries a utility helicopter on board and features a helicopter pad. The model number is S-006.

• Tank : Resembles the Type 61 tank and the German Panzer IV used during World War II. Can also be operated remotely without a crew.
• Jeep : A vehicle belonging to the Rokko Mountain Defense Center, capable of carrying a recoilless rifle. Its license plate number is P-27.
