Ultraman: Super Fighter Legend is a Gashapon toy franchise developed by Bandai. The popularity of the franchise gained it a manga adaptation by Riku Sanjo (under pen name Ryuu Sagawa) and Jin Kurihara, an OVA and a video game.
The manga series was first serialized in Comic BomBom from 1993 to 1997. After the first four arcs, the story continued under the name Ultraman: Super Fighter Armor Legend . Only the first two arcs were released as 6 tankobon volumes by Comic BomBom, but eventually from 2009, the manga was rereleased by Fukkan.com as 4 volumes.
In 2014, the manga was revived and subtitled New Chapter , starring Ultraman Mebius as the protagonist. It released as a webmanga on the Gashapon World website and concluded in 2020. From 2016, Shounen Champion Comics Extra released both the New Chapter as 5 tankobon volumes and the original series as 8 tankobon volumes, labelled as the Complete Edition .
In 2021, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the OVA's release, all eight volumes of the manga were available on TSUBURAYA IMAGINATION from July 21 to August 31.[1]
Synopsis[]
A long time ago throughout the cosmos, there was once a legendary warrior called the "Super Fighter". His fists can shatter planets, his radiance shines the dark reaches of the universe. Decades after peace has returned to the universe, a martial arts events called the "Galactic Strongest Tournament" has started to commence, where every participant aims to be the new legendary fighter. Warriors stands, and a new legend rises.
