Fight! Dyna vs. Dyna (死闘! ダイナVSダイナ, Shitō! Daina Bui Esu Daina) is the thirty-first episode of Ultraman Dyna.

Plot[]

It is a seemingly peaceful day during one of Asuka's patrols. So much so that the officer deemed it acceptable to nap on the job. Unfortunately, Kudou Natsumi, an aspiring camerawoman, had photographed his misconduct and threatened Asuka that she would send them to the tabloids if he did not comply with her request.

Suddenly, four gigantic blade-like pillars pierce the earth in a square formation. At that moment, the kaiju Mons-Ahgar warps out from the same gravitational distortion which the blades originated from. Super GUTS intercepts in the GUTS Eagle but they quickly realize that this Mons-Ahgar had been modified. After evacuations had been completed, Asuka escaped to a secluded area to transform. But he notices a strange man in front of him across the river. The man smirks, raises his hand, and transforms into "Ultraman Dyna". Dyna and Ahgar engage as three relay drones televise the fight. Dyna taunts his foe whilst repeatedly evading and relentlessly striking. The massacre ends with Dyna brutally snapping the neck of the helpless kaiju. The lifeless body of Ahgar disintegrates while Dyna gloats and basks in the cheers of the masses.

Afterwards, Asuka follows the strange man to the same spot as before. They begin a swift duel in which Asuka is easily defeated. The man reveals himself to be a Gregore from the Hercules Constellation. He, as a master martial artist, seeks powerful warriors across the universe to duel. His next target: Ultraman Dyna of Earth. Gregore reveals that he impersonated Dyna to eliminate the interference of Super GUTS. He threatens Asuka that he would continue summoning space kaiju if he does not accept the challenge. The duel would be to the death, with both fighters' pride and honor on the line. Before the battle, Asuka hears Natsumi's thoughts about the differences between the fake and real Dynas. This provides motivation for him, and he promptly thanks the young woman.

The Sun sets bellow the pillars. The two warriors raise their transformation devices into the air and transform in unison. Two Dynas appear in the crimson, sunset-lit town.

Asuka, with creeping insecurity of inferiority to his doppelgänger's incredible fighting prowess, immediately fires his ultimate finisher in an attempt to swiftly finish the fight before it truly begins. Imit-Ultraman Dyna rebuttals back with his own Solgent Beam to match Dyna's - toying with him as to implant false hope in his opponent, before easily overpowering his foe and sending him to the ground. He mocks the Ultra - that arrogant laugh ringing throughout the field. Imitation doesn't let up and continues to masterfully dismantle Dyna as he did with Ahgar prior. The real Dyna attempts to match his foe's attacks one-to-one but ultimately is outclassed in any possible way. His style does not suit it. He wallows in self-doubt as he anxiously awaits for Gregore's next strike.

But he continues to fight. He continues to give it his all. Backed by the cheers of the many; the strength of his fists; and the unyielding flame that is his fighting spirit; Dyna stands once again. For the final act of this duel, Dyna transforms into Strong Type. Without anticipation, Dyna gives it his all - no holds barred - as he demonstrates his strength and fighting style. Not even a master martial artist can overwhelm raw emotion. The two prepare their final push. The two Dynas prepare one last punch, imbued with their warrior's pride, and strike each other. There is a moment of silence before Imit-Ultraman Dyna falls to the ground. The crowd roars with joy as the true Dyna has won.

Gregore's mask breaks. He had lost. However, Dyna spares the alien; and leaves him with the notion that his strength lies in the hopes of spirit of his allies. Gregore humbly accepts defeat and bids Earth farewell.
