Synopsis[]
At the intersection where the traffic signal had malfunctioned, Takeshi was guiding preschoolers and elementary school students. When he asked passing students for help, they initially refused, citing upcoming tests. However, they reluctantly agreed to lend a hand after some hesitation.
However, as a result of this, the students who were late ended up receiving a punishment of zero points from Vice-Principal Nozaki. Takeshi explains to them the value of self-sacrifice as they express regret.
At that moment, a monster appeared, leaving Takeshi hesitant to transform as he couldn't leave the students. However, they volunteered one by one to act as decoys for their classmates.
Having been taught the value of self-sacrifice, Takeshi prepares to reveal his true identity and transform Ultraman 80...[1]
Plot[]
In the dark night sky, a large spherical object floated softly like a balloon, shining brightly in white. Inside that sphere, there was a bridge.
At the UGM Paddock, there was a report that the spherical gas tank at Point 29 had disappeared without a trace. This was the third similar incident. Statues, weather stations' radars, and now, bridges—all vanished overnight. Then came the report that the bridge at Point 32 had disappeared. The team members were speechless. Oyama marked the spots where the bridge and statues disappeared on the map. The marks on the map lined up across Japan from the Sea of Japan to Tokyo, suggesting a pattern. Oyama predicted Tokyo as the next location of the incident and added that the series of events were likely caused by monsters from space. Emi calculated the energy needed to make a bridge vanish completely and found it to be equivalent to nearly twice the power of Ultraman 80 if it were a monster. UGM went into high alert to defend Tokyo.
The next morning, Takeshi, on his way to school, noticed preschoolers and elementary school students unable to cross the road due to a malfunctioning traffic light. Some of them even attempted to dash across. Takeshi took out the yellow flags provided and began directing traffic with both hands. Soon after, Fashion, Super, Rakugoo, and Hakase arrived. Takeshi tried to get them to help with traffic control, but doing so would make them late for school, causing them to miss the first-hour test. Takeshi said, "Which is more important, the test or people's lives?" The four understood, and they all started directing traffic together—five of them in total.
However, what awaited the five of them when they arrived at school was a scolding from Vice-Principal Nozaki. Matters outside of school were deemed irrelevant, and the four were unable to take the test, resulting in a score of zero...! Despite Takeshi's plea to at least allow them to take the test, the Vice-Principal turned a blind eye. Takeshi explained to the four that someone had to direct traffic. Sacrificial spirit was important. To live as human beings, sometimes sacrifices had to be made. It wasn't about gains or losses, but each of the four expressed that perhaps they didn't have to sacrifice so much. A score of zero was painful, especially for those in their second or third year. Just as they were discussing this, the sky suddenly darkened, and with a tremendous roar, the monster Jitan appeared out of nowhere.
Takeshi led the four to take shelter in the shed in the corner of the schoolyard. At that moment, Kyoko Aihara, who was conducting a physical education class in the schoolyard, was evacuating students to the school building. However, the monster spat out a transparent balloon-like sphere and attacked Kyoko. Takeshi rushed to Kyoko's side, pulling her hand to the shed for refuge. But the balloon completely enveloped the shed, and as the monster breathed out, the balloon floated into the air, carrying the shed away. Gradually ascending, the balloon carried the monster away until it vanished into thin air.
Inside the shed, the six of them became aware of the unusual situation and were shocked. The principal, vice principal, and Non-chan, who had been watching the scene, were equally stunned. UGM, upon receiving the report from the principal, confirmed that the series of events were indeed the work of a monster. However, they were shocked to learn that two teachers and four students were trapped inside the shed.
Ignoring the panicked Hakase and the others, the balloon was gradually approaching Tokyo Tower. However, by tilting the shed, they managed to change the balloon's course and avoid a collision. The balloon continued to ascend, but at a certain point, its movement abruptly stopped. There, the balloon, which had encased bridges, statues, gas tanks, ships, and more, floated like rare exhibits in a museum.
Just below the clouds, the monster from earlier lay sprawled out, occasionally pulling the balloon towards itself and gazing at it contentedly. Takeshi reasoned that this monster's behavior was similar to that of crows collecting shiny objects like marbles or tin medals.
Meanwhile, for the rescue mission, Silver Gull and Sky Higher were deployed by UGM However, they faced a counterattack from the monster, and Sky Higher ended up trapped inside the balloon. Harada narrowly escaped. It was discovered that the balloon could pass through humans, but the monster, in order to protect its collection, surrounded itself with a super-low-temperature zone of minus 120 degrees. Normal clothing would freeze and lead to instant death. Frost formed on Harada's helmet and visor as he descended, and his own cheeks turned purple from frostbite...
Inside the shed, oxygen was gradually depleting. Upon receiving a signal of light from Silver Gull β, Takeshi learned about the extreme cold outside. He decided to wrap a rope around himself and jump, intending to be towed by the UGM aircraft. However, as Takeshi made his decision, the remaining five began volunteering themselves to sacrifice. Rakugoo confessed that he suffered from acrophobia and would faint upon jumping, thus dying painlessly... Hakase after a scientific analysis, concluded that he was the most suitable for the task... Takeshi felt satisfied that everyone understood the significance of their actions that morning, bid them farewell, and leaped into space!
Meanwhile, the Space Mammy launched, aiming to halve the monster's power with a direct collision. Then, a massive explosion occurred! Black smoke engulfed the area, and from within, Ultraman 80 embraced the monster and descended. A fierce battle ensued on the ground, and 80 created a light balloon, trapping the monster inside and blasting it into space.
The balloon in the sports shed was gently pulled down by Silver Gull β. The next day, at Takeshi's earnest request, a test was administered for the four of them. However, the results were unexpected: only Hakase scored 98 points, while the other three received a disappointing score of zero.
Takeshi told the others that they would retake the test after school the next day, and they would continue retaking it every day until they scored above 80 points. The vice-principal could only smile wryly at Takeshi's determination. Takeshi chuckled to himself while scratching his head, fully aware of the challenge ahead.[4]
