Trivia[]
- The final scene of this episode was filmed at Nishi-guchi Park in Ikebukuro, which is the same park where Gamu first visited and received the power of Gaia in episode 1.[2]
- The scene in the finale where Gamu looks up at the sky in Ikebukuro and shouts "Hey!" was added by director Hirochika Muraishi. Additionally, the message conveyed to the audience at the end, which was originally just a passage included by Konaka in the script's afterword, was suggested by Muraishi to be presented on screen.[3]
- When discussing Fujimiya’s final fate in a 2000 interview, Hachiro Takano mentioned that the character should not become too entangled with others. The episode’s ending shows Fujimiya traveling alone by the sea. Since the state of Fujimiya's character is not clearly explained, viewers are left to interpret the scene in different ways. Takano explained that his interpretation of the scene was that "Fujimiya remained alone until the very end." He portrayed it with the feeling of "Fujimiya giving a slight smile at the end, rediscovering hope for the future."
- In fact, the shot following this scene was originally intended to depict a construction site where repair work was taking place after the battle, with Fujimiya wearing clothes that resembled work attire. Takano humorously remarked that connecting these two scenes would make it look like "Fujimiya is working at a construction site." Ultimately, the construction site scene was not included in the final cut of the episode.
- The scene with Fujimiya on the beach was filmed in the early morning. After filming this scene and announcing the completion of the entire series, Takano and Takeshi Yoshioka, who had been watching the shoot, went to the beach to play in the water.
- A three-minute special titled "To Earth, Forever " takes place a few months after the Earth is Ultraman's Star event. In this special, viewers see a world that has already returned to peace, with Gamu seeking help for his graduation thesis while Fujimiya smiles and teases him. This video is included only in the Ultraman Gaia SPECIAL released in 2000. It also features interviews with Takeshi Yoshioka and Hassei Takano.
- This episode was later featured in New Ultraman Retsuden episode 43 "Revival of Light! The Earth is Ultraman's Star."[4]
- After the broadcast of this episode, the program in the same timeslot the following week was replaced by Zoids: Chaotic Century.
- Takeshi Yoshioka, the actor who played Gamu, often joked about the new show's connection to Zoids.[5] In 2024, when Ultraman Arc was announced, he jokingly mentioned on Twitter that the new show was not about Zoids, expressing his relief.[6]
