Because this Kaiju is a character in the show instead of the monster-of-the-week, it has been given its own article. If you're looking for the main page, see Lavian. |
Dinas is a Lavian who seems to own the Ultra D Flasher and uses the Dinas card to transform into Ultraman Dinas.[1][2]
Personality[]
Fighting is not the Ravian's strong suit, so even after transforming into Ultraman Dinas, kicking and punching are not her forte. Her strength lies in her ability to utilize the Kaiju cards that allows her to mimic the Kaiju's abilities.
History[]
Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey to Beyond[]
Dinas came from Planet Lavie, where her people lived in harmony with animals and monsters. The planet came under attack by the Alien Magma, Alien Godola, and Alien Bado who served Alien Zozogiga Professor Gibellus. Dinas held onto the Baby Zandrias as the aliens viciously beat the Mother. Ultraman Dyna arrived to defeat the three alien invaders. Dinas was healed by Dyna in order to save her from the injuries, but her will reacted with Dyna's light and caused her transformation into an Ultra. They together defended Planet Lavie from invasion. Inspired by Ultraman Dyna, she decided to help others with her power of light. She learned of the true nature of the attack on Lavie on her travels, that Professor Gibellus invaded planets as experiments to find "the most beautiful method of invasion". Although her fighting and stamina were poor, Dinas went after Gibellus and his army. She had trailed onto an Alien Pedan but this led her into the alien unit's ambush.
Soon after the skirmish, Dinas found her way to the Planet Earth, falling onto Kanata Asumi from a portal. She sensed something different about Kanata, unaware he was this Earth's Ultraman. She continued her pursuit of the aliens the next day when civilians of Kurio City fell into comatose states. Dinas came to rescue GUTS-Select from the effects of the alien device with Gagi's Dimension Card. With Terraphaser was taken out by King Joe, Dinas transformed into Ultraman Dinas to handle the giant robot, destroying it with Zetton's Fireballs. GUTS-Select with Dinas to the TPU headquarters and revealed Professor Gibellus's invasion experiments.
Gibellus arrived to Earth with his ship, the Zorgaus. A more massive device appeared in the sky which placed the rest of Japan into a comatose state. Dinas gave GUTS-Select copies of Gagi's card to shield them from the device's effects. An Alien Icarus led Dinas along with Kanata, Ichika, and Ryumon into being trapped in a dimensional field. Although they broke free, Gigagaiser attacked them and defeated Dinas. After regrouping, the remnants of GUTS-Select launched an assault to reclaim their headquarters. After being freed from capture, the group launched a final assault on Gibellus' forces. Dinas was ultimately defeated once again, even after her anger-induced final push against Gigalogaiser following Kanata's death. Together with the rest of team, Dinas was able to revive Kanata, with her ability to transform into an Ultraman taken away in the process.
Months after the battle, Dinas had joined GUTS-Select, being one of Kanata's crewmates as they set off to the ninth planet of Nebula D97 in the Nursedessei.
Transformation[]
Dinas summons the Ultra D Flasher and inserts her Dimension Card into the device's midsection. Drawing it towards the front of her face, she shouts her name and transforms into Ultraman Dinas.
Powers and Weapons[]
- Telepathy: The Lavians can telepathically communicate with animals and plants. They are incapable of reading the minds of Humans and presumably other intelligent lifeforms, as their thoughts are too complex.
- Dimension Card Creation: Dinas can create Dimension Cards of animals, plants, and monsters she had contacted. She created a card of a Sparrow on one such occasion. She can also duplicate existing cards.
- Dimension Cards: Dinas utilizes the Monster Dimension Cards to mimic the monsters' abilities to compensate for her lack of fighting ability.
- Ultra D Flasher : Transformation item.
- Ultra Dimension Cards : Transformation and attack cards.

Trivia[]
- According to Dinas's actress, Kayano Nakamura, she has loved the Ultraman series since she was a child, especially Ultraman Tiga. However, she realized at some point that "girls can't become Ultraman," so she gave up on that dream. She never expected that this dream would come true on her journey as an actress.[6][7][8]
- According to Nakamura's interview, the role of Dinas was confirmed through an audition. On the day she received the acceptance notice, it happened to be her manager's birthday, so he told her it was a wonderful birthday gift. During her self-introduction, Nakamura passionately expressed her love for Ultraman Tiga to the interviewers. However, she was so enthusiastic that Director Masayoshi Takesue joked, "We already know about your love for Ultraman; now let's move on to the acting test."[9]
- During the grand finale stage greeting, Nakamura mentioned that Director Takesue told her the reason she was chosen to play Dinas was based on the casting criteria of someone who "doesn't look like they could become Ultraman" or "seems unlikely to become Ultraman."
- Regarding the positioning of Dinas, according to an interview with Masayoshi Takesue, there was initially a plan for Decker Asumi to make another appearance among the main guest characters. However, it was felt that this would make the story seem overly reliant and would not convey a sense of crisis. Additionally, Takeki wanted to include the origin story of Decker but preferred to depict Kanata obtaining his own fundamental power. Considering that the relationship with Dyna was not fully explored, and the use of cards was a significant element, it was decided that a human host of an Ultraman who also gains power from Dyna would appear.[10]
- According to Takesue's plan, considering that Dinas would transform into a prototype Ultraman unable to utilize 100% of its power, there was once a concept to make it an artificial Ultraman. However, after multiple attempts, it was ultimately decided to establish Dinas as a race inherently unsuited for combat.
- Konomi Naito auditioned for the role of Dinas and made it to the final shortlist but was ultimately not selected for the role. However, because those involved believed she was suitable for a character in the new series, she was eventually cast as Anri Minami in Ultraman Blazar without needing to audition.[11]
