Decker Asumi Kanata Asumi's descendant and the original owner of the Ultra D Flasher, having used it to transform into Ultraman Decker in the distant future before passing it to his ancestor.[1][2][3]
isHistory[]
Future[]
After several centuries, humanity started to expand out into space, encountering many other alien races in the process. Their progress was halted by the appearance of the Spheres, who the humans fought back against with the help of their allies, including the incarnation of Yuzare at the time, and another Ultraman. At some point, Decker Asumi gained the power of light, and was able to transform into Ultraman Decker using the Ultra D Flasher, but they were still unable to fully repel the Spheres.
The Spheres eventually reached Planet Bazdo and imprison it in a Sphere Barrier. While its people still fighting back, Decker's former ally, Agams, became resentful towards humanity, blaming them and their space expansion for bringing the Spheres to their planet. This led him to create a space-time distortion system to go back to the past, bringing the Spheres with him to invade the Earth of the past to prevent the future destruction of his home world. Decker attempted to follow him back to the past but Agams destroyed the system before anyone else could use it. Desperate to stop Agams' plan, Decker sent the Ultra D Flasher back to the past, hoping that the light would exist there as well.
Ultraman Decker[]
The Ultra D Flasher made its way to Decker's ancestor, Kanata Asumi and through the device, Decker was able to communicate with Kanata, granting him access to Ultraman Decker's powers as he needed them.
Eventually, after finding out that Kanata was now Ultrmaan Decker, Agams showed his true colors and defeated Kanata by hijacking the Terraphaser. At the same time, Decker Asumi from the future had been sent to the present using a partially restored space-time distortion system, taking back the Ultra D Flasher once more to battle Agams, and the two of them blasted each other away. Birth of a Dark God
Kanata and Decker had a talk in the forest where the former revealed the circumstances of Ultraman Decker, Agams and the Spheres, before Agams appeared and interrupted them. Decker attempted to transform, but the instability in his time travel had left him weakened, leaving the two of them with no choice but to run and escape from Agams and his Terraphaser. Troubled by both Agams and Decker's willingness to throw down their lives for their respective causes, Kanata took back the Ultra D Flasher and transformed into Ultraman Decker once more with the resolve to protect the Earth. He was still no match for Terraphaser, but Kanata's determination to never give up, and the additional support from Decker created a new light that became Ultraman Decker Dynamic Type, and using the Decker Shield Calibur, Kanata was able to win against Agams.
Before Decker went back to the future where his friends were, he told Kanata his full name and revealed to him that he was his descendant. Decker made once last request for Kanata to save Agams as he left back to the future. A Promise for Tomorrow
Transformation[]
Decker transforms to Ultraman Decker the same way Kanata does - through the use of the Ultra D Flasher and Ultra Dimension Cards.
The Ultra Dimension Card Holder switches to whoever summoned the Ultra D Flasher, indicating that only one person can transform into Ultraman Decker at any point in time.
Powers and Weapons[]
Spending more time and having more Ultraman combat experience than Kanata, Decker's proficiency as Ultraman Decker is notably superior than his ancestor. His knowledge of his Ultraman forms enabled him to react and adapt quicker to the changing combat situation in his fight against Terraphaser and Spheresaurus. Prioritizing Terraphaser as the bigger threat, Decker summoned 3 Dimension Card monsters to distract and stall Spheresaurus, which enabled him to focus on his fight against Agams. Quickly realising that Strong Type was unable to dent his opponent, he switched to Miracle to utilize speed and illusions while changing to Strong for defensive blocks. Decker was able to match and fight the more powerful Terraphaser to a stalemate through his seasoned finesse alone, something which Kanata was unable to do before his power-up.
As noted by Ryumon, Decker's persona in his Ultraman form is distinctly different from Kanata's - he appeared confident to the point of arrogance, while having bigger body language reactions to circumstances. Exclaiming that Dynamic Type is Kanata's unique Decker form, it is possible that Decker may possess his own unique Ultraman form in his own timeline as well.

Trivia[]
- His appearance and name were kept completely confidential until the broadcast of episodes 14 and 15, including in magazine media. On the day the episodes aired, the magazine media also enforced an information blackout.
- Despite being from the Asumi bloodline, the official website of Tsuburaya Productions made it clear that Decker's name is written out with his given name followed by his family name, as opposed to the conventional Japanese naming structure.[1] This may be a result of the Asumi family no longer following this naming convention, or that Decker had a mixed parentage at some point prior to his birth.
- As confirmed by Decker, had the Spheres not made their move on Earth and mankind successfully expanded to outer space, then the Asumi family would have expanded their rice cracker business to as far as Mars. Decker recounted enjoying eating them when he briefly resided on Mars as a kid.
- In the stage show NEW GENERATION THE LIVE: Ultraman Decker STAGE 4, when Shin Asuka and Kanata meet, Asuka mentions that he heard about him from Decker.
- According to an interview with Masashi Taniguchi, when he first received the offer to appear in the Ultraman series, he initially thought he wouldn't be transforming. He was very surprised to learn that he would indeed be transforming and expressed his disbelief at being able to transition from working on Super Sentai and Kamen Rider to now appearing in the Ultraman series.[6][7]
- After confirming his role, Taniguchi received a detailed set of character materials. The main director, Masayoshi Takesue, wanted him to play a crucial role in the production and to break the boundaries of the series in a positive way. Taniguchi recalled that the director did not provide a detailed description of Decker Asumi's character, so after reading the script, he decided to determine how to portray the character after meeting Hiroki Matsumoto and Yu Koyanagi.
- At the end of episode 14, Decker Asumi transforms into Ultraman Decker and fires the Selgend Beam at Terraphaser. Taniguchi revealed that this scene was not originally in the script. He recalled, "Matsumoto had started shooting early in the morning, and the director suddenly told me, ‘Please fire the beam.’ I saw Matsumoto looking at me with surprise, and the director whispered, ‘We haven’t had him do this move before; I want you to do it.’ The director’s goal was to introduce this scene at a turning point in the story, where Matsumoto might feel jealousy or fear if he saw other actors taking his place, and to convey the message of ‘making Matsumoto take on more responsibility and fight harder in the latter part of the series.’"
- Taniguchi mentioned that although he had considered being slightly more serious when revealing his name to Kanata, he ultimately chose to bid farewell with a smile. He was concerned that his portrayal of Jin Takayama in Kamen Rider Amazons might have left a strong impression on the audience and created a typecast. Although he considered other expressions, he felt that using them would be insincere for this series, so he decided to use a smile when saying goodbye to Kanata.
- Regarding whether Decker Asumi might appear again, Taniguchi was concerned that if Decker reappeared in future spin-offs or the final episode, his appearance could lose its significance. Ultimately, the director chose to have the character exit in silhouette, and Taniguchi agreed with this approach.
