Dear Mr. Ultraman (拝啓ウルトラマン様, Haikei Urutoraman-sama) is the thirty-ninth episode of Ultraman Tiga.

Synopsis[]

Daigo receives an email saying that someone knows his true identity. The young man who sent the email has psychic powers, and proposes a game.

Plot[]

A monster named Galra appears in the middle of a city in Sector D and proceeds to rampage. GUTS is quickly on the scene to counterattack, but Galra's super dense skin is more than enough to protect him from their assaults. Daigo then saves a woman who was trapped inside a building on the seventh floor with the help of a mysterious man. Daigo then transforms into Ultraman Tiga to stop the monster himself. Again, Galra's skin protects him from Tiga's attacks, but not from Tiga throwing him around. With GUTS still firing on him, Galra quickly escapes underground, barely missing Tiga's Zeperion Beam.

That man becomes jealous of Daigo, because Daigo/Ultraman Tiga is praised as a hero with his "extraordinary power", while he was seen by others as a monster. He later sent Daigo an e-mail to come to the shopping mall at the K Sector, he introduces himself as "Makio Kirino" and blackmails Daigo to play games with him. However, Makio leaves as Rena is watching them from afar and he will contact Daigo later. Rena and Daigo go walking together, with Rena asks if Daigo holds something back and Daigo tells Rena that he will tell her everything one day, but not now. Later that night, the monster Garula appears and GUTS' attacks are no use against him. Makio sends an e-mail to Daigo, showing his disappointment with Daigo for letting the monster escape again.

The next day, Makio reveals to Daigo the game is to defeat the monster Garula without transforming, and even threatens to reveal Daigo's identity as Ultraman Tiga to the world if he loses the game. Daigo wonders why Makio doesn't use his powers for good deeds but Makio replies that his reasons are the same with Daigo for keeping his identity as Tiga as a secret. Before leaving he tells Daigo Garula's next location; Metropolis K-3 District.

GUTS later finds out that the fleeing monster Galra is an ancient monster of the same class as Golza and Melba so it can travel freely underground. GUTS members are worrying about the monster would fire his heat beam in a populated area then the casualities will be incredible and they have no idea where the monster will emerge next, Daigo tells his teammates that the monster will appear on K-3 District while making excuse that it's "just intuition" of him. Munakata says that if they fortify one area then it will weaken others so he shouldn't make careless suggestions. Daigo has no choice but goes off and waits for the monster on the K-3 District on his own alone, which is against GUTS rules. Rena then appears to accompany him, but not before warning him that he breaks the rules and he could be punished for that. Rena also suspects that it's the man in glasses tells Daigo everything, which Daigo confirms that.

When Garula arises, Makio witnesses Daigo's strategy as he tries to distract the monster luring it away from the city. However, when Rena is about to be crushed by falling debris, Daigo is left with no choice and transforms to escort Rena to safety. Tiga appears and fights the monster, but he is overpowered by the monster. After seeing Daigo/Tiga's effort to stop the monster, even when his Color Timer starts blinking, it reminds Makio the bullied time in his childhood, Makio then redeems himself by telling Tiga that Galra's weak spot is his neck. With the monster's weakness exposed, Tiga fires his Zeperion Beam through Galra's throat, instantly killing the monster.

Daigo is suspended by Captain Iruma for two days for breaking rule, but Iruma also reminds Rena that she still has some vacation time left and suggests Rena taking two days or so off. Other GUTS members understand what Iruma meant but Daigo, she then teases Daigo's intuition isn't so sharp after all. Makio later e-mails Daigo admitting his lose in their game, Makio also commending on his bravery and how he deserves his recognition and that he has finally decided to brave society until it could accept his ability. In the end of the email, Makio also advices Daigo to always wear the pants as Rena is a very touchy girl, Daigo and Rena sneeze at the same time coincidentally after that.
