Trivia[]
"Five hundred years ago, no one ever thought the Earth was round. So when sailors first tried to find continents beyond the sea, everyone said, "It's impossible," "It's just a fairy tale." A hundred years ago, when people first tried to fly in small airplanes, when they first aimed for space, everyone still said, "It's just a fairy tale." Until it was achieved, it was always just a fairy tale. Yet many nameless souls have sacrificed their lives dreaming and passing on those dreams. We, the construction crew, called Germina III "the Daughter of Time" because we were proud to be among those who carry on the dream. Musashi... weren't you the same? Trying to live alongside the monsters born on Earth, believing that it's possible... Such a story might be a fairy tale now. But haven't you always believed that someday it will come true? "
- ―Reni encourages the frustrated Musashi
- The sequel to this two-part episode is episode 48 "Waroga Counterattack."
- Reni's speech in this episode is one of the longest in the Ultraman Series.
- According to Hitomi Miwa's 2001 interview, she accidentally began pulling Musashi along during the first take of the escape scene with Musashi and Reni. This prompted the director, Masaki Harada, to ask Taiyo Sugiura, who played Musashi, "What do we do when the protagonist is being pulled along!?"[1]
- Regarding Dr. Migita, the production team initially gave him a casual name, assuming that he would only appear once. However, the character later became a regular fixture.[2]
- Although these two episodes are one of the more serious and intricate stories in the Cosmos, Producer Hiroyasu Shibuya felt that these two episodes effectively convey the importance of facing reality while continuing to pursue one's dreams. He believed that even children could grasp this message, and he was delighted that the story marked a significant turning point in the series.
- According to the Tōnichi Shimbun report featured in the episode, which notes the completion date of Germina III, the events take place on September 25, 2009.
- As one of many selected to celebrate the Ultraman Series' 60th anniversary, this episode was made available on the Ultraman YouTube channel from November 12, 2025 for two weeks, following November's theme of "The Story of Hope."[3][4][5]
