Cathy , also known as Kiyathi or Kyasshi, is a monster that appeared in Ultraman 80.

History

Ultraman 80

Every hundred years, a monster was said to appear in the Kiya Valley's village. In that year, the village chief decided to use the legend as a tourist attraction strategy, placing fraudulent records of monster roars in various areas and even name it Cathy, after their own village. However, the real monster awoke.

When UGM attacked, they could not faze the creature with the weapons. However, they found that it would run out of energy if it did not eat meat. When it tried to eat two villagers, Takeshi transformed. 80 and the monster battled, while Cathy tried to eat the hero himself. Ultraman managed to defend himself until the monster collapsed from hunger.

80 then flew the monster to a place where it could return to sleep undisturbed.

Trivia

• Kyasshi roar is a modified Gabara roar.
• The Crescent suit from Ultraman 80 episode 1 was modified for Cathy's costume.
• Because of their uncanny resemblance (color and appearance), Cathy was compared by UGM members to Ghostron from Return of Ultraman. However, the episode exaggerated a few key features, including that Cathy being four times bigger and requires to eat 1000 kg meats to stay active.
• Cathy being used as an attraction by the village chief and its name may be a reference to the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, referred in the Japanese as Nessie (hence Cathy/Kiyasshi theme naming).

• Burrowing: As Cathy only appeared once a few hundred years, the monster can remain submerged underground while still being alive and unharmed.
• Fire Breath: Cathy can emit a stream of flame from his mouth.
  • Smoke Breath: If Cathy runs out of energy, his flame breath will be smoke breath instead.
• Telekinesis: Cathy can use telekinesis to bring his prey closer.
• Strong Jaws: Cathy have strong jaws.
