Bunpei Ai is a Japanese novelist and screenwriter. He was a writer for the Ultraman Series in the Showa era, including serving as the head writer of Ultraman 80. Bunpei is his real name, but he uses the name Shosuke Ai as a novelist.
Career[]
Ai moved to Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture in 1943. After graduating from Waseda University's First Faculty of Letters, he began working in an advertising company. In 1972, he began to write scripts under the guidance of Toshiro Ishido, a screenwriter he met in college. He debuted as a screenwriter with Ultraman Taro in 1973.
After the 1980s, he focused on writing novels. He mainly writes long suspense novels and sea adventure novels.
