Ultraman Wiki

The Belial Factor (ベリアル因子, Beriaru Inshi) is the genetic code of Ultraman Belial that first appeared in Ultraman Geed. Starting from Ultraman Z, fragments of his body took on the form of Devil Splinters (デビルスプリンター, Debiru Supurintā) to bring destruction across the Multiverse.

History[]

Ultraman Geed[]

Although it did not appear physically, Riku Asakura/Ultraman Geed is said to have been created from Kei Fukuide's laboratory in Neo Brittania (Nebula House). To grant Riku (and Pega) access to Nebula House, RE.M. uses her U-Tom drone to scan Riku's DNA (which she calls as B Factor (B因子, Bī Inshi)) before she manifests an elevator for their entrance.

Another Gene[]

Simultaneously, it was revealed that while Riku indeed was created from the Belial DNA, his took emphasis on Belial's Ultraman side. The Reionics side took the form of Nix Kanaya, a young boy who was abandoned by Kei but is given the Nix Riser to compensate and eventually living his own life as a Kaiju detective.

Mabuze's Belial Factor

Mabuze's Belial Factor.

After Ultraman Belial's death, his DNA essence was salvaged by the Villain Guild and sold to Alien Chibull Mabuze as part of the latter's ambition to create the ultimate life form. He did this first by creating Skull Gomora, mixing Belial's DNA alongside Gomora and Red King's genetic material. At some point late on, Mabuze offers his help to a trio of Alien Sran, Alien Zarab and Alien Godola, using his device to create a clone known as Imit-Ultraman Belial. Mabuze had Zarab reinforce the Belial clone with said DNA material, only for Imit-Belial to kill them afterwards from being lured by Ultraman Tregear. With Mabuze's death, the whereabouts of the Belial Factor in his possession remains unknown, though it is presumed to have been destroyed during his untimely demise as well.

Ultraman Z[]

Due to Ultraman Belial's many battles and subsequent injuries, his body cells went scattered across the multiverse as splinters and plunged it into chaos.[1][2][3] The New Generation Heroes were tasked with tracking down these fragments to prevent any potential problems they could cause. At least in Z's flashback, three known monsters, Bemstar, Majappa and Segmeger, were driven berserk from the splinter's effects.

To combat the rampaging monsters, Hikari crafted the Z Risers and Ultra Medals, but several of these devices were stolen by a Celebro-possessed Genegarg, who proceed to race itself to Earth and was pursued by Ultraman Z. After possessing Shinya Kaburagi, Celebro try to create a Belial Kaiju Medal, but the particular splinter isn't enough to provide as an ingredient.

A particular wayward splinter was responsible for resurrecting Gillvalis on Planet Ain, forcing Riku to resort to the Z Riser as an alternative when his Geed Riser was damaged. During Gillvalis' first destruction on Earth, Celebro salvaged that particular splinter to replace the one he had lost. Coupled with abducting Riku from STORAGE and drain him of his Belial Factor, Celebro mixed both ingredients to create a stable Belial Medal, which he uses to transform into Belial Fusion Monster before losing it to Haruki during Greeza's reappearance. It was also during the latter incident when the Beliarok was born from the space needle coming in contact with Geed, his Belial Factor once again serving as the key component.

Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad[]

The hunt for the Devil Splinter continues for the New Generation Heroes. Aside from Pestar and Bemstar on planets Liquitor and Penol, one particular fragment was guarded by remnants of Belial Galactic Empire, the robots mistaking it to be their deceased leader. The fourth fragment was discovered by Ultraman Boy, who initially assumed it to be an ordinary shiny rock on the Monster Graveyard until Ultrawoman Grigio corrected him. The Kingdom then stole all four fragments to empower Reibatos into recreating the Giga Battlenizer and fusing Gina Specter with the souls of her brothers into Gua Specter. Reibatos then dies when the Devil Splinter he absorbed started to erode his body into nothingness. Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad

Nature[]

Encased Belial Factor

Mabuze's Belial Factor, kept in a protective case.

The Belial Factor on its own is essentially an Ultraman's essence mixed with the genes of Alien Reiblood. Its physical appearance took on the form of red-colored liquid in its liquefied state. Other than serving as a genetic template for cloning material, the Belial Factor appears to be able to fuse two other DNA materials into a Belial Fusion Monster, as evidenced by Mabuze creating Skull Gomora and energize beings from similar product, as it empowers the Imit-Belial. The Belial Factor is also hazardous when handled without proper care, as an Alien Zarab was seen fainting and foaming after being exposed to the DNA material in its gaseous state. When solidified into the form of a Belial Kaiju Medal, aside from the aforementioned Belial Fusion Monsters, the crystal can also grant the ability to absorb monsters into genetic materials and eventually bursting out to form a fusion monster, as demonstrated through Celebro's use to transform Ultroid Zero into Destrudos. Strangely enough, the Kaiju Medal is able to retain its form even during the fusion and can be ejected while the fusion remains intact.[4]

As the Devil Splinter, it took on a form resembling Belial's iconic eye shape. The splinter on its own can corrupt those who were pricked by it, turning them into berserkers. As seen on Deban, even close contact with it can cause the little monster to momentarily went out of control. This however has no effect beings like Ultras who physically held the device with their own hands, a Celebro-possessed Kaburagi and the "undead" Gina Specter. Exactly how it works is unknown, but the splinter is also able to resurrect robots, such as Gillvalis. As seen on Reibatos, it erodes his body after he willingly absorbs four of them into his own, suggesting that they are naturally hazardous regardless if the target is a willing host.

Trivia[]

  • No explanation was given in-universe as to how the Villain Guild came to acquire the Belial Factor, let alone in its refined state. The most likely hypothesis is that this sample was cultivated through one of the scattered Devil Splinter.
  • Ultraman Z establishes the splinter to be palm-sized in human standards, fitting as they are torn-off pieces of Belial's flesh (as seen in Riku's flashback of Belial fighting against Taro). However in The Destined Crossroad, they are seen as large as an Ultra's handheld item. This may be a result of how the miniseries is filmed in an Ultraman-sized scale, hence the need to portray the splinters as larger then they should have been.
  • Although not entirely important in context, the Belial Factor is mentioned in The Destined Crossroad when Geed hypothesizes why the Beliarok has an affinity for the young Ultra.
