The Beast Factor (ビースト因子, Bīsuto Inshi) is the essence of the Space Beasts that appeared in the Ultra N Project collection of media. It makes up the proportion of a Space Beast's physical appearance and can act as an infecting agent to reproduce more of these monsters. Prior to assimilation with nearby life forms, the Beast Factor took on the appearance of a luminous light-blue energy particles or black amorphous liquid when latching onto a victim.

Names[]

The Beast Factor is alternatively known as Optical Information Substance (光情報体, Hikari Jōhō-tai), Photon Factors (光量子因子, Kōryōshi Inshi), Χ-Neutrino (Χカイニュートリノ, Kai Nyūtorino) and Beast Cell (ビースト細胞, Bīsuto Saibō) to name a few.

The "Χ" in Χ-Neutrino isn't the Alphabet letter X, but the Greek letter Chi in uppercase.

History[]

Past[]

The Beast Factor's first appearance can be dated as early as the Space Beast attack on Messier 80, the Visitors' home planet. The cells formed the first wave of Space Beasts and invaded the Visitors' home planet until the appearance of Ultraman Noa put a temporary stop to them. However, this solution was only temporary, as Noa went into his slumber, while the Space Beasts reverted to their dormant energy state forms. Fearing another Beast attack, the Visitors created Dark Zagi, only for their protector to turn against them by empowering the Beasts even further. Left with no choice, they were forced to detonate their home planet's sun and turn into beings composed of a photonic information substance. Zagi, unfortunately, anticipated his creators' escape and likewise reverted the beast to their Beast Factor forms to pursue them. Upon arrival in year 1989, the first batch of Beast Factor created the first Earth Space Beast Zero to feed on the livestock in Colorado, America. The US government took note of Visitors' warnings and not only destroyed the Beast, but to also keep the information of Zero's attack a secret. "N" THE OTHER

ULTRAMAN[]

In the year 2004, Beast the One appeared on Earth and possessed submariner Takafumi Udo. This created a series of events which involved the Space Beast fighting against Noa's lesser form, Ultraman the Next, until it was defeated. Unfortunately since the Next is still weaker in terms of strength, his attack only reduces Beast the One to a pile of Beast Factors, the samples which would create more Space Beast in the future. ULTRAMAN (2004 film) As the One's attack will also inspire worldwide fear and once again accelerating the proliferation of Space Beasts, the Visitors launch Lethe to wipe memories and media information of the One and the Next from the Earth population and falsify the attack on Shinjuku as a form of meteorite shower. Ultraman Nexus[]

Space Beasts continued to appear in the span of four years until the reappearance of Noa as Ultraman Nexus, who had developed the ability to completely destroy the Beast Factor of Space Beasts. Backed by the Visitors, TLT established Night Raiders as a secret task force to properly deal with Space Beast attacks, while the Memory Police cleansed the victims' memories of said attack and the White Sweepers acting as coverup agents to clean up leftover Space Beast bio material.

Beast Factor exposed

A strain of Beast Factor being expelled from Komon.

The Beast Factor was also utilized by the Giants of Darkness, chief among them being the one codenamed 'Unknown Hand.' Komon in particular, was the victim of the Beast Factor twice as he experienced nightmarish illusions until Jun Himeya snapped him out of it, using the Blast Shot to expel the Beast Factor. The Yamamura parents fell victim to Nosferu's essence, transforming their deceased bodies into Beast Humans who feed on wood and took their daughter, Riko, as a hostage for the monster.

Following the defeat of Dark Mephisto, the Space Beasts began growing their own countermeasures against TLT, passing their information to one another by using the Beast Oscillation Wave. Banpira benefitted from this through its development of concealment fog and inducing amnesia in any surviving victims. The Unknown Hand also experimented on the Beast Factor by salvaging a piece of Lizarias' flesh and using it to resurrect the monster in a new more powerful form. He also took Galberos and Mega Flash, fusing their essence with that of other defeated Space Beasts to form Izmael. By the time Unknown Hand was restore to his corporeal form as Dark Zagi, his mere presence created a simultaneous global scale Beast attack until his timely defeat by Ultraman Noa. The threat of Space Beast since then had been put under control, with the expanded Night Raiders keeping them in check while no longer operating from the shadows.

Ultraman F[]

In an alternate continuity taking place after the finale of Ultraman, Beast the One appeared from one of Bullton's portals and terrorized Shinjuku until it was taken down by the joint collaboration of SSSP and Inpei Seant's Giant Soldier project. Although this world has no prior record of Beast attack, countermeasures had been taken to clean up the One's leftover essence from across the city. Mitsuhiro Ide manages to salvage a piece of Beast Factor for study purposes, tentatively naming it as Shadow (影, Kage).

Tiga, Dyna, and Ultraman Gaia Novel: The Adventure in Hyperspace[]

The Beast Factor appears through one of its many progeny, Nosferu. It is stated by Charija that the reason why he kidnapped Nosferu as part of his forces is to get his hands on the Beast Factor, thus by combining his monsters into Demon Gyrares XIV would provide it with the Space Beast's genetic makeup and (hopefully) giving it the advantage against Tiga, Dyna and Gaia. Powers[]

  • Assimilation: The Beast Factor acts as a reproductive agent to create new Space Beasts, doing so by latching themselves onto a nearby host.
    • Mutation: In the process of creating a new Space Beast, the Beast Factor mutates its host body before it gains control of them. As described by Ide in Ultraman F, it functions by "taking in cells from other organisms, breaks them down, produces copies, and incorporates only the necessary parts into its genes".
    • Hallucination: Had the Beast Cell choose not to assimilate with the host, it can haunt them with nightmarish illusions to feed on their fear and hatred.
  • Fear Empowerment: The Space Beasts in general feed on the fear of its victims as a form of predation. According to the Visitors, even the notion of widespread fear among global population is enough for Space Beast to proliferate.
  • Dark Field Empowerment: The Beast Factor can be empowered by the Dark Field or Dark Field G employed by the Giants of Darkness. In the latter's case, it allows a Bugbuzun Brood to grow into gigantic proportions.
  • Beast Oscillation Wave (ビースト振動波, Bīsuto Shindō-ha): The Space Beasts' method of communication, it passes on information to other Beasts and exhibits the opposite wavelength of Nexus. Even in cellular forms, the Oscillation Wave is active on a low level.
  • Adaptation/Increase in Power: The Space Beasts exhibit the ability to adapt and increase their own powers, either by resurrection or passing information to others through Beast Oscillation Wave. Hence even if they are destroyed, they can be resurrected into stronger forms or the other Space Beast will adapt a new tactic to their strength. Another example of this is Banpira, who adapted the Memory Police's Memoraser to its ability to erase memories from its victims.

Trivia[]

  • The Beast Factor shares its properties with Gudis Cells, in that they transform existing creatures into rampaging monsters and are naturally hostile towards humans. Additionally, their existence were so dangerous that they put an entire civilization on a countermeasure against them; Gudis' threat is recognized by the Ultras of M78, sending Great to Earth while mankind receive backing from the Visitors in against the Space Beast threats.
  • Some of the future appearances of Space Beasts in live television Ultraman Series media tends to ignore the possibility of Beast Factor spreading after the monsters' defeat. This includes Galberos' later appearances post-Nexus and Bugbuzun Brood's appearance in Ultraman X, the latter of which would have the worst case scenario of Beast infection in urban area since the smaller Bugbuzun Broods were killed without proper cleanup of their remains.
  • According to Ultraman Official Datafile (volume unknown), it is said that Galberos and Nosferu are progenies exclusive to Beast the One's strain of Beast Factors, explaining their identical traits and strong vitality.
