The Battle Hanger (バトルハンガー, Batoru Hangā) is an Assist Weapon created and piloted by Landmaster to support Gridman in Diaclone VS. Gridman.

History[]

Diaclone VS. Gridman[]

Battle Hanger was created by Landmaster using both the Grid Suit's combat data and the data of Dia-Battles V1 (ダイアバトルスV1, Daia Batorusu Bui Wan) that was still under construction at the Moon base.

While Gridman had already sortied with Hikari Kaizaki to fight Giganter at Mt. Fuji, Landmaster piloted the Battle Hanger to guide the Assist Weapon to Gridman, allowing him to merge into Battles Gridman. At the end of the battle, Battle Hanger armor was absorbed into Gridman to restore his energy and true form.

B Mode (Hand-to-Hand Combat Mode (Bモード(近接格闘機動モード), B mōdo (Kinsetsu Kakutō Kidō Mōdo)) is an alternate configuration that provides Gridman with more freedom of movement for greater mobility in melee combat, whereby the cannon unit on the back is detached and instead placed on the Bullet Fighter of the Battles Hanger.[1]

Trivia[]

  • In real life, the Dia-Battles V1 is a fan designation given to the old Dia-Battles figure when compared to the Dia-Battles V2 that was released in the rebooted Diaclone toyline. The web novel stated that the Dia-Battles V1 is not only under construction at the time of Giganter's appearance, it is also visually identical to the Battle Hanger.
  • According to an interview with Motoki Takaya:[2]
    • The Ride Attack Mode configuration was already conceived from the design draft, but due to time constraints in the novel, it was forced to be written out but is still implementable in the real life set.
    • The Battle Hanger's design was intentionally meant to be based on an interplanetary exploration vehicle. This is because at the time of Gridman's arrival to the Diaclone universe, the Diaclone team had been focusing on space exploration.
    • The Battle Hanger reminisces the King Jet in terms of its position, while Battles Gridman is partly based on Thunder Gridman. However, the aforementioned combined form was consciously made to ensure the mixture of both Gridman the Hyper Agent and SSSS.GRIDMAN, especially considering the fact that the Diaclone VS. Gridman web novel is a prequel to the anime.
  • According to its real life set:
    • The Battle Hanger is capable of carrying the Thunder Crash Caliber, resting the weapon on the aircraft's fuselage.
    • Battles Gridman and the Bullet Fighter is capable of combining with other Diaclone sets due to the similar tabs and slots used by the aforementioned toy line.
