Akebono Inn

Akebono Inn

The Akebono Inn (あけぼの荘, Akebono Sō) is an old inn located on Suehiro Mountain in the outskirts of Hoshimoto City, owned by Ayaka. According to the testimony of the maid Yamanami, Ayaka took over the management of Akebono Inn from the previous owner 20 years ago. The inn's signature dish is the "Mushroom Meal," made with mushrooms freshly picked from the surrounding area, priced at 2,500 yen per meal.[4][5]

Ayaka rescues Alien Croco who has been wandering in the mountains for several days.

Sixteen years ago, while Ayaka was returning from gathering wild vegetables in the mountains, she found Alien Croco collapsed in front of Akebono Inn and immediately showed concern for him. Using the last of his strength, Alien Croco attempted to communicate through hand gestures, and Ayaka instinctively responded with the same gestures. In that moment, a bond seemed to form between them.

Ayaka, who was not afraid of Alien Croco, quickly joined forces with the waitress Yamanami to take care of him. Once Alien Croco recovered, he began helping out at Akebono Inn as a guest. To hide his alien identity, he took on a human appearance and called himself "Numata," working diligently every day. With his assistance, the inn became very popular among tourists.

However, after K-Day, the long-standing economic downturn and frequent kaiju disasters led to a decline in guests at Akebono Inn. Despite these challenges, Numata remained steadfast, not only to repay Ayaka's kindness but also because he hoped to protect this important place for the rest of his life. Ayaka, in turn, kept his alien identity a secret to protect him.

Sixteen years later, in the present day, frequent earthquakes have been occurring near Suehiro Mountain. SKIP also detected a mysterious electromagnetic wave, with its source located in the same area. In response, Yuma Hize, Rin Natsume, and Shu Ishido went to the site for an on-the-ground investigation. They arrived at Akebono Inn and met Ayaka, Numata, and Yamanami. Shu and the others immediately began questioning the three, but they seemed to be hiding something.

Shu then used a multifunctional measuring device to trace the source of the electromagnetic waves, discovering that they were emanating from an old shed quietly standing behind the inn. When the group followed Numata to the shed, they found a mysterious object covered by a cloth inside. Numata hastily tried to hide it but accidentally dropped a device from his waist, revealing his true identity as Alien Croco.

Ayaka protects Numata/Alien Croco.

Since it is prohibited for aliens to infiltrate human society, when Shu, acting as a GDF special investigator, begins to interrogate Alien Croco and requests Ayaka, who has arrived at the scene, to leave, Ayaka firmly protects Alien Croco. She recalls her past encounter with Numata and appeals to the members of SKIP, hoping that Shu will pardon Numata.

At that moment, an unprecedented violent tremor occurred. Looking out from the shed where Alien Croco's spaceship was hidden, a kaiju burst from the mountain with a roar. The cause of the earthquake was Shagong, a creature that has the habit of summoning its companions when it finds prey. This time, it called upon another Shagong as well.

When everyone took refuge back at Akebono Inn, Yuma transformed into Ultraman Arc to fight but still found himself in a difficult situation during the battle. As Shagong took the opportunity to attack the people in the inn, Numata, piloting his homemade small spacecraft, recklessly charged at Shagong, causing the spacecraft to explode.

Ultimately, Arc used his finishing move, Solis Sword Explosion, to defeat Shagong, while the remaining Shagong retreated back underground. When everyone believed that Numata had perished in the explosion, they discovered that he had miraculously survived. Ayaka and Yamanami joyfully reunited with him, and seeing the harmonious coexistence of humans and aliens led Shu to begin changing his perspective.

According to Shu’s subsequent diary entry, Ayaka visited Numata at the GDF base, where he was assisting with the investigation. During her visit, she spoke to Shu while eagerly anticipating Numata’s return and worked with the staff to diligently rebuild the inn. Shu apologized for his previous rudeness and promised to return one day to enjoy the mushroom dish he had left untouched. Ayaka, in turn, requested that Shu bring Yuma and Rin along on his next visit to Akebono Inn.[6]
