Design[]
Repodios was designed by Yasunasa Watanabe.[3]
According to director Takanori Tsujimoto, Repodios' design was inspired by the fact that there were few kaiju in the Arc series that were bipedal with the traditional "Gomora shape." He also requested that the creature incorporate features that would delight children, namely its prominent horns and spikes.[7]
In an interview published in the movie's promotional booklet, he remarked that "the concept of its entire body being a weapon, among other things, also gives it a kind of Terrible-Monster-like feel."
History[]
Ultraman Arc The Movie: The Clash of Light and Evil[]
In the past, Alien Repo infiltrated Earth and stole the design data of the plasma power plant "Angie 1" in an attempt to harness its energy for themself. They were stopped by two members of the GDF, Shu Ishido and Jin Kiuchi. Although Alien Repo was successfully defeated, Kiuchi was killed in the explosion, and the incident left an indelible trauma in Shu's heart. Welcome to the Akebono Inn
As the third test issued by Sascal to Yuma, Repo—having failed in their previous operation—launched another attack on Earth. This time, they tried to stir up Shu's psychological wounds by returning his abandoned sculpture "Guilty" under Kiuchi's name as a provocation. At the same time, they sent the kaiju Zerogelos to attack Kanizawa City as a vanguard force, aiming to seize the completed Angie 1 and its energy core by force. When SKIP arrived on the scene, Alien Repo released a hallucinatory mist, causing all SKIP members to fall unconscious.
Using Shu's deep-rooted trauma over losing Kiuchi and their own power of dark imagination, Repo transformed the sculpture into the Guil Arc Cube. They then stole the Arc Ariser from Yuma and forcibly transformed Shu into Guil Arc against his will. Due to the extreme difficulty of the trial, Sascal arranged for future Yuma to come back and assist the present Yuma, lending him their own Arc Ariser so he could transform into Ultraman Arc once again. With Yuma's heartfelt persuasion, Shu eventually regains his senses, overcomes his inner shadow, and is freed from Repo's control.
After Zerogelos absorbed the energy of the Angie Repo then chose to intervene in the battle directly by absorbing Zerogelos and merging with it to transform into Repodios. They lifted a large section of the Future Science Research Institute and the surrounding ground into the sky, beginning the final battle against Arc and Guil Arc at the edge of the atmosphere. However, under the fierce joint assault of the two heroes, Repodios gradually fell into disadvantage and was ultimately destroyed by the combined attack of the Arc Eye Sword and the Arc Galaxer. According to a conversation between Sascal and future Yuma, during the later battle against Ze Su in Rution's galaxy, Alien Repo participated as part of Ze Su's forces.
Trivia[]
- Miki Mizuno, who previously appeared in tokusatsu works such as Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman and Gamera 2: Attack of Legion, makes her Ultraman Series debut in this production.
- Interestingly, her husband, Mitsuru Karahashi, also appears in the same series as Zangill, making it a rare case of a couple participating in the same Ultraman series.
- According to Mizuno, she and her husband share their work schedules through a smartphone app. Reportedly, when Karahashi saw a "Ultraman voice recording" marked on the calendar, he got excited, thinking he was getting another role in the Ultraman series—only to find out it was actually his wife's job. He was said to be quite disappointed.
- Mizuno's involvement was made possible thanks to her friendship and past collaborations with director Takanori Tsujimoto. Reportedly, Tsujimoto had initially struggled with how to invite her onto the project. Then inspiration struck: "If it's just voice acting for an alien, maybe she'll agree?" He consulted with the producers, and her participation was finally secured.[8]
