The alternate version of Akiko Fuji (フジ・アキコ, Fuji Akiko) is the main viewpoint character of the 2016 novel Ultraman F. Because of her previous kidnapping incident by Alien Mefilas, she was left with remnants of the former's legacy that would serve as a plot point to the story.

History[]

Ultraman F[]

This Akiko Fuji basically shares her past story and exploits to those of her television counterpart.

One year after Ultraman left the Earth, military branches from around the world was forced to improvise their assets and weaponry when the giant of light no longer protected the Earth. Since Hayata was exposed as the host of Ultraman, he agreed to let himself being experimented while Fuji was the only one that protested such a decision.

When Beast the One wreaked havoc in Shinjuku, Inpei Seant decided to collaborate his project with Ide as they created the Ultra Armor through the Alien Ruperts' technology. The armored giants were able to destroy the monster (so much so that it was destroyed to cellular levels to prevent Beast cells from spreading) but the explosion effect caused all giants to wreak havoc.

Meanwhile, Fuji was exposed with the original Ultraman's wave and transformed into Giant Member Fuji, incapacitating all of Inpei/Ide's armored giants before Dr. Ichinotani shrink them to normal size via Thermal Atomic X-ray. Ide investigated and discovered that Fuji's body contains nanobots implanted by Alien Mefilas that turned her into a giant. With the Giant Soldier projects were banned by United Nations, Ide and Inpei decided to use Fuji as another Giant Soldier, since her variant allows her to retain her sanity unlike the former project. When child scientists Soso and Utsuutsu sold their humanity to Dark Zagi, Giant Soldier F fought all three Dark Giants until she was blown with three simultaneous attacks from her opponent. Their power caused her to become an Ultra-like being named Ultraman F, proceeding to defeat them all at once. Mephisto however peacefully left when Utsutsu (Faust) pleaded with him to stop fighting.

Profile[]

The Giant Fuji
Kyodai Fuji taiin

Giant Fuji (巨大フジ隊員, Kyodai Fuji taiin) was the giant form of Akiko Fuji after Alien Mefilas used his saucer to turn her large temporarily in order for her younger brother to gave him the control over Earth. In the novel, it was revealed that Fuji's transformation is through biological machinations instead of illusory forms.

Stats
  • Height: 40 m
  • Weight: 10,000 t
  • Origin: Alien Mefilas' saucer
  • Weakness: The Mefilas Bots can be deactivated via the use of Thermal Atomic X Ray. Despite the ray proven fatal to a normal human (creating cancerous cells and kills them after 3 exposures), the Mefilas Bots were able to neutralize the side effects, allowing Fuji to shrink safely.
Powers and Weapons
  • Mefilas Bot (メフィラスボット, Mefirasu Botto): Nanobots contained within Fuji's body, they were responsible for her transformation into Giant Fuji during her kidnapping by Alien Mefilas. According to Ide, the nanobots are bounded to her DNA and the estimated number are 80 x 1016. The Pattern Ultra emitted by Hayata can reactivate the nanobots, though this time Fuji is in control.
    • Healing Factor: The Mefilas Bots are capable of healing Fuji's injuries at a faster rate. In addition, when being exposed with Thermal Atomic X-Ray, the Mefilas Bots are able to negate said radiation's side effect (cell canceration).

Giant Soldier F

Seeing how the collaborative effort of Ide and Inpei Seant's Giant Soldier program met their failure, they decided to use Akiko Fuji as part of Plan F. Giant Soldier F (巨人兵士F, Kyojin Heishi Efu) was made after the original Giant Soldier program failed to be controlled and was banned by the United Nations. This project was made on Fuji due to her growth method was different (through Mefilas Bot instead of Butterfly Morpho serum).

The Giant Soldier F utilized a feminine-shaped Ultra Armor F (ウルトラアーマー F, Urutora Āmā Efu) that contained cells of Balloonga.

  • Ultra Armor F (ウルトラアーマー F, Urutora Āmā Efu): An armor suit created based on the science of Alien Ruperts and joint collaboration of Ide and Inpei Seant. Unlike other Ultra Armor, this one is also fitted with cells of Balloonga.
    • Zero Gravity Bullet (無重力弾, Mujūryoku-dan): The same bullet that SSSP used to defeat Zetton once.
    • Barrier Generation: Still having bits of Balloonga's powers, F can create a protective barrier.
    • Energy Absorption: Balloonga's main power, Fuji can absorb and exploit said energy for her own.
    • Numerous SSSP Firearms: As with all Ultra Armors, Fuji is also armed with the SSSP's armed cannons, such as Super Guns, Spark 8, Mars 133 and others.

Main article: Ultraman F (character)

Ultraman F (ウルトラマンF, Urutoraman Efu) is an Ultra that was born when Giant Soldier F being radiated with beam attacks of Dark Faust, Mephisto and Zagi. The combined beam caused the Balloonga cells of Ultra Armor F and the Mefilas Bot to react and gave her such appearance. It is also known that the Ultra Armor F that Giant Soldier F wears has become a literal Ultra Armor.

There is also a Color Timer on her chest that operating in a 3 minute rule, but instead of measuring energy limits, it served as the time needed before Fuji can be forcefully return to normal via Thermal Atomic X-ray. If the Timer was destroyed or Fuji cannot revert to human form, crystal shards would emerge from F's body in a similar vein to Ultraman Saga.

This "crystallized" form allows F to harness her powers to the point of rivaling Hyper Zetton but risks of permanently trapped in the form of an Ultra due to the malfunctions of Mefilas bots. Fortunately, Ide creates a virus by combining Beast the One and Fuji's twin sister's cells to infect her, allowing Fuji to become human again.

Despite being female, the term "Ultraman F" was coined by Fuji herself.

Body Features
  • Mefilas Bot (メフィラスボット, Mefirasu Botto): Nanobots contained within Fuji's body, they were responsible for her transformation into Giant Member Fuji during her kidnapping by Alien Mefilas.
In addition, when being exposed with Thermal Atomic X-Ray, the Mefilas Bots are able to negate said radiation's side effect (cancer).
  • Pattern Ultra (パターン・ウルトラ, Patān Urutora): The life force energy of an Ultraman emitted by Ultraman F. Former Ultraman host Hayata also possess remains of this life force energy, which was responsible for reactivating Fuji's Mefilas Bot once more.
Weapons
  • Balloonga Aegis (バルンガイージス, Barunga Ījisu): Since the transformation into Ultraman F costed Balloonga's energy absorption, Ide created an armor for F to use, which absorb incoming energy beams. But since the Ultra cannot exploit the absorbed energies, said armor was destroyed by Imago Hyper Zetton's Dark Fireball.
Techniques
  • Ultra Armor F's abilities: Since Ultraman F's skin is developed from Giant Soldier F's armor, she still retain these abilities:
    • Zero Gravity Bullet (無重力弾, Mujūryoku-dan): The same bullet that SSSP used to defeat Zetton once.
    • Barrier Generation: F can create a protective barrier.
  • Dark Zagi's data: Since Zagi is also one of the driving factors of F's birth, she gains the information and combat strength of Dark Zagi, allowing Fuji/F to turn the tables against the giant of darkness.
    • Teleportation: Ultraman F is capable of teleporting towards various continents on the Earth, as well as to the Moon. This was made to counter Zagi's attack and is enhanced when F received "crystallization".
    • Zagi Galaxy (ザギ・ギャラクシー, Zagi Gyarakushī): To counter Zagi, F can also summon meteorites from asteroid belt.
  • Ultra Powers: As an Ultra, Fuji can shape her energy beams through her own mind. Some are homages to the original Ultraman while others are tributes to past Ultraman.
    • Spacium Beam (スペシウム光線, Supeshiumu Kōsen): Based on Ultraman's (+) style finisher.
    • Disembering Halo (八つ裂き光輪, Yatsuzaki Kōrin): Based on Ultraman's Ultra Slash.
    • An 870,000 degree energy beam fired in a similar pose to Ultraman's Ultra Attack Beam. According to novel, Fuji created this from Zagi's memories of fighting a certain Ultra Warrior.
    • Unnamed L-style Beam: Created in a similar pose to Ultraman Ginga's Ginga Cross Shoot.
    • Energy Body Charge: Based on Ultraman Mebius (Mebius Infinity)'s Cosmo Miracle Attack.
    • Energy Punch Attack: Based on Ultraman Saga's Saga Maximum.

Trivia[]

  • As Giant Soldier and Ultraman, the letter "F" in her notation means "female" and "Fuji".
    • This is also makes sense since she is the female and coincidentally the "final" project of Giant Soldier program. The Ultraman notation is due to neither of the characters have heard of a female Ultra Warrior (Ultrawoman) before.
  • She is the one of the two human characters to be illustrated in the novel. The other being Hayata.
  • Ultraman F's designer is Masayuki Gotoh. Surprisingly F's appearance was related by many to Ultraman Saga, both coincidentally had fought against a Hyper Zetton.
  • In a similar case to Arashi and Furuhashi, the novel had Akiko Fuji written as a twin sister to Yuriko Edogawa, one of the main characters of Ultra Q. This is due to their original incarnations sharing the same actress, Hiroko Sakurai.
    • Had Yuriko not existed, another relative would have been used as a substitute to save F and revert her to Fuji.
