Ota originally worked as a screenwriter in a small theater company. Since she wanted to participate in video works, she submitted a script to Masato Oida, the producer of Tsuburaya Productions, on the recommendation of Akio Jissoji, a senior at Chikuma Shobō. In 1997, she participated in Ultraman Tiga and debuted as a screenwriter.
From 1997 to 2007, she served as a screenwriter for several Ultraman series, including the composition of Ultraman Nexus in 2004.
