Trivia[]

  • In this episode, the "Oshima Comet" is introduced. According to the setting, the comet was discovered by Akio Oshima, who was once a student of Takeshi Yamato from Ultraman 80. At the time, he was a middle school student with a passion for astronomical observation. After growing up, he became an astronomer.[1]
  • The "Silver Shark G" also appears in this episode. Originally developed by TAC, it was designed as a destructive beam cannon to combat super giant monsters. The weapon underwent several modifications and was ultimately deployed in its G-type version at the GUYS Phoenix Nest base.
Zamsher HD 001
  • According to this episode's director, Tomoo Haraguchi:[2]
    • Zamsher was originally conceived as a character for an offline event, and the initial storyline for this episode was planned to take a different direction, excluding the appearances of Alien Valky and Alien Magma.
    • Haraguchi believed that showcasing Zamsher's power through visuals would help the audience better understand the story. As a result, he instructed the staff to search the suit warehouse for an opponent that could engage in "sword fighting" with Zamsher.
    • The antagonists initially considered for the episode included the Alien Terrorist and Alien Tsuruk.
    • At first, there was also no plan to include the storyline of the Oshima Comet. However, during that time, he had the chance to watch the movie Armageddon," which left a deep impression on him. This led to the realization that "Mebius, Hikari, and GUYS are powerful because they have things they need to protect," shaping the narrative of the story.
  • Regarding Zamsher's role in offline events, the character's concept initially originated from an alien figure planned for the TV series. However, this idea intersected with the needs of Tsuburaya Productions' event business division, which sought to create a new character capable of serving as an MC in stage shows held at amusement parks and department stores across Japan.[3]
    • In typical stage shows, Ultraman and kaiju voices are pre-recorded, making live-speaking alien characters a rarity. The only prior example was the Alien Magma from Ultraman Leo, whose head design allowed the performer to move their mouth while speaking. This unique feature made Magma Seijin a popular choice for live shows. Recognizing this, the stage show team proposed the addition of more characters capable of direct speech. Designer Yasushi Torisawa then developed Zamsher based on this concept.
  • This episode was later featured in Ultraman Retsuden episode 65 "Let Us Duel!! Hikari vs. the Great Swordsman of the Universe Zamsher!!".
  • Toriyama wore an Ultraman Nexus finger puppet during his family time.
